Looking for info on David and Susannah Brendle. Susannah was born Susannah Leatherman and her first husband was Jacob Leonhardt. David and Susannah married in 1852 and I have no proof but I believe they married in NC. because Susannah and Jacob Leonhardt were in Lincoln County, NC. in the early 1830's and Susannah died there in 1862.

Susannah Leatherman1 Leonhardt was born 1804. She married (1) Jacob Leonhardt. She married (2) David Brendel, son of Johannes “John” Brendel (Source: Catawba Co., NC, Will of David Brendel.) February 19, 1852 in Lincoln Co., NC. son of Johannes Brendel and Mary Winters. He was born February 01, 1797 in Lincoln Co., NC. and died March 22, 1862 in Catawba Co., NC. Burial: Palm Tree Meth. Church. (Source: Palm Tree Meth. Church cemetery records.).
My mother (Nora Brendle Tillman) was the gr, granddauther of David Brendel.

It sounds right. Amanda Brendle is probably listed somewhere on your family tree as well. She married a Mason

He was born September 20, 1857 in Jackson Co., NC, and died September 02, 1940 in Swain Co., NC. Burial DeHart/Jackson Line Cem.. They had 11 children.

I suspect that my gg grandmother Dicey Mariah Brendle 1836-1921 (m. Rev.Pinkney Alexander Whitener)was decended from Johannes Brendel. She died in Burke Co. but was likely born in Catawba or old Lincoln like her husband.
