S.S. Bremen in 1954--can't find Nykamp on any ship manifest

I have been trying to locate my dad on passenger lists from 1954. It is very frustrating, my grandparents are adamant they came on the Bremen from Bremerhaven on December or November 4, 1954. The year and port of departure are absolutely correct. They say they came into New York. I can't find anything about them on any passenger lists. I would think it should be easy to find them considering it was relatively recently they arrived. Is there anyone who knows about arrivals in 1954 and imcomplete passenger lists, or what I can do to rectify this info. My grandparents are naturalized but have no paperwork from their arrival. Their names are Theodor and Erika Nykamp; my dad is Rolf Nykamp. They were from Marl-huls Germany. Sailed from Bremerhaven port. Thank you for any help

The SS Bremen was scrapped in 1941.

How can the date be absolute when you say it could be Nov or Dec?

Their Declaration and/or Petition should have an arrival date (on or about) and ship name. Have you seen this paperwork?

And yes in regards to incomplete transcribing of passenger lists I have entire pages missed by Ancestry.
