Help with names on a quilt 1871, surnames Laverty,stothart,nicholson kearns,campbell, rolls.
looking for information... My gg grandmother Lottie oliver nee Stothart born 1882 Kingston Ontario passed down quilt blocks with each square having a name and date of 1871 on it. charlotte Laverty-Kingston born 1853-my ggg grandmother Mary Stothart-peterborough Emma Nicholson-Portsmouth Rebecca Rolls-Kingston Jenny Campbell-Kingston Lottie Stothart-Peterborough born 1882 - my great grandmother Ellen Stothart -Peterborough aunt of lottie Stothart Debbie Kearns-Kingston M.A. Kearns-Kingston
some people are relatives and I am trying to see if there was a significance to the year 1871. Also if the other women were neighbours or relatives.

These Friendship quilts were usually made as a gift to someone moving or as a wedding gift but Charlotte and John Stothart married in 1880 so that not it. Lottie also is on it but she wasn't born in 1871 so not sure of the significance
Mary Stothart may by Charlottes husbands sister, she was 10 years older that John(1861 census)
also from 1861 census Debbie Kearns age 13 and her mother Mary Ann Kearns 50 are living in Portsmouth, Frontenac ON

I found out Charlotte Stothart had a brother Edward Laverty and he married in 1871 so it could have been for that.
