Looking for information of the family of Luka Belafuza and Tereza Zaputovic and the family of Bogdan Miholovic and Kate Poljak. My grandmother, Kristina Belafuza married Vincent Miholovic' in San Francisco around 1907. My grandmother's sister, Nina, married Gracia Vucinovich and moved to Buenos Aires around 1907. Any information regarding these families from Lepetane will be much appreciated. I would especially like the ancesters of these families.

Hello from Croatia, Diane. Lepetane village is in Boka kotorska bay in Montenegro. Red star on this map shows Lepetane position:
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&se...

In the time your folks left it was part of Austria Hungary, and that bay was populated with numerous ethnic CROATS community. Croats there were - and still are today - Roman Catholics (ethnic Montenegrins and Serbs from this area are Eastern Orthodox). Meanwhile most of Catholic Croats fled out from that region.

So, were your folks CATHOLIC (Croats) or ORTHODOX (Montenegrin or Serbs)? This is crucial to proceed your search (you need to know their religion in order to know their parish - in order to trace church books for family history).

Btw, I checked Montenegro online phone book, some of surnames you listed still exist in Lepetane.

Hello sebicancg;

My grandfather, Vincent "Vicko" Miholovic/h was born in Lepetane (1857) and immigrated to San Francisco around 1875. His parents were Bogdan Miholovic and Katherina Poljak. Vincent married Kristina Bellafusa also born in Lepetane (1880). Her parents were Luka Belafusa and Teesa Zaputovic.

I am looking for information on their ancesters and families.

Hello sebicancg;

I am the granddaughter (Diane Liening Nelson) of Vicko Miholovic who was born in Lepetane 15 Aug 1857. He immigrated (family lore has him jumping ship) in 1875 to San Francisco, California, USA. His sister, Angelina, I understand married a Vucinovic, also lived with him in San Francisco at least from 1900 till 1930. I don't have her death date. Vicko/Vincent married Kristina Bellafuza around 1912. She too was born in Lepetane.

Vicko had the following children:
Vincent, Theodore, Luca and Catherine (my mom).

The following is a list that John Miholovich wrote - date unknown.

Names of our relatives:
Luka & Tripo Miholovich your first cousins.
Anton Vucinovich also your first cousin
Frana? Zaputovich and her family my first late cousin wife and chilren
Gildo Vucinovich and his sister Gjova Andrich your second cousins,
Leonora Zlobi and her family, she is Dominic Bradovic? sister
My sister, Nina and her family, Gracia, Vicko & Rosa in Argentina

Your information is very interesting to me. Thank you.

Hello Luka;

In looking at the notes I have, I've come across information on my grandmother's (Kristina Bellafuza) siblings. They are: Mara, Katina, Andrijana, Nina, and Niko. Niko went to Africa. Could Andrijana be Anto Miholovic's wife?
