'Passenger Ships and Images' database not available

We have access to the UK Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960 but the 'Passenger Ships and Images' database is not available on the UK membership.

This seems a very petty restriction, it would be useful to be able to click on the ship name and get a picture etc.

Pictures and data are available elsewhere on the web but it just would be a lot more convenient to be able to get this on Ancestry.

I can't even get to the UK Incoming Passenger Lists data any more. I know I could access it before because I downloaded the image for some relatives returning to the UK after emigrating a few years before.

I'm assuming this database has been silently removed from my subscription - I currently have Essentials. When I signed up there was only 'UK' or 'Worldwide' and UK gave me access to all UK data. I can understand that when more databases are added, the subscriptions should go up (as I believe they do) or new levels be introduced for the new content, but I don't think databases should be removed from what you can access.

The only thing that makes me wonder if it is a glitch is that if I try to view the records that it finds when I search the Passenger List database is that it doesn't tell me I need to upgrade, but tells me the record is only available if I subscribe to one of Essentials, Premium or Worldwide. And I am subscribed to Essentials - I'm logged in and I can access other databases.

So could someone else confirm whether this is a glitch and something is messed up with either my account or the database, or confirm what level account is required to access this database?

Cheers,
Steve.

I wonder sometimes why there cannot be a list of every single database and then columns to show which subscription rates have access.

Perhaps even a list of what you have access sent in an EMail when you renew your subscription.

Thanks for checking that - are you on Essentials subscription?

Like you, Steve, I used to have access under the old subscription to all UK content. Now things like the Passenger Lists are denied me because I only renewed to an Essentials sub. I had planned to upgrade to the Premium rate straight away, but I'm hardly missing the extras‚ they're not worth another £24 ... well not for me, anyway.

I am becoming quite peeved with Ancestry; they happily give away special offers of half-price subs to new subscribers, but what do they give to their loyal subscribers who have paid full price for years? Not a penny!

Findmypast give 20% (I think) discount to existing subscribers if they renew early.

Perhaps Ancestry should take note.
