Finally found my g grandmother in the 1920 census for Broome County. She is listed as a white female age 77 born in Canada arriving USA in 1914 but still listed as an alien. For some reason she ended up as an inmate in the Broome County Almshouse with several others (lines 1 thru 50, V.12, E.D. 72 Sheet 20, line22)
Susan Olive Lampman b:16Jan1842, dtr. of Alexander and Amanda (Griffin) Lampman in Wainfleet, Ont. She married Herman Buchner in 1865 and they moved to Inwood, Ont. He was killed in a train wreck near Alvinston, Ont. in 1883.
Susan was on the voter registration rolls for Lambton County as late as 1913 and then disappeared. Will check to see how she disposed of her property.
Would like to find out place and date of death and hopefully find an obituary and cemetery and gather details concerning what the dickens she was doing in Broome County.
Where was the Broome County Almshouse?
Do they still have records available?

Her youngest dtr was Minnie b:3Dec1881 and her youngest son was Darias b: 9Aug1885. Both left Inwood around 1905 for parts elsewhere. I had assumed Darias or Minnie had gotten married left Canada and sent for the mother and that is how i found her but not them.

Thanks in advance

Neil

I understand the Putnam Putman part, but it is nearly 3 AM and I'm confused. Her name was Susan Lampman - did she marry a Herman Buchner or a Herman Putman or both?

I found Susan Putnam Putman in the census but I don't follow the connection either. As for her burial ground, go to http://www.pressconnects.com, put in the search term "Interstate 81 burial grounds" without the quotes and you'll pretty much get the story. If you pay for the article, they may have a contact person/place to search for the records you're looking for if there is in fact a marked grave somewhere. Most likely the Broome County public library can help you if you call them directly and ask for the genealogy department. The Alms house is located in front of the Broome Community College on Front St. in Binghamton. It has also been a jail. BCC owns the land and the Alms house is too expensive to maintain so the plan at this time is to demolish it.

Thanx for the alert.

Yes her maiden was Susan Olive Lampman....and there might be some indication that she had a prior marriage in Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada
Herman Putman is the correct name. i've been applying so much effort to my Buchner line it just slipped out.

I might have communicated with you before re: Buchner...??

I have a different question for the moment. My husband's stepmother is a Bigger: her mother was Cora Beatrice Putman, her grandparents were George Adelbert Putman and Ada Leona Dutton, her great grandparents were Jonathon Putman and Sarah J Brower, her great great grandparents were John Putman and Marilla/Morilla.

Do you have anything that can tie any of those Putmans to Ithmar Putman and Annie Melissa Buchner?

Thanks a lot,
Cathie (Hellems) Warboy

Hi Cathie: Yes i have a connection for you.

David Putman married Dorothy Hainer on 24May1807 in Grantham, Ont. They had 10 siblings.
T third eldest was John and he married Marilla Cook (no other info). The second eldest was Adam who married Delila Graff. The latter had a son named Harmon who married Susannah Olive Lampman and they in turn had a son Ithimar Putman who married my grandmother Annie Melissa Buchner in May 1896 at St.Thomas Ont.

Send me your correct ee address and i'll send you the file or descendancy listing. Gedcom or Family Tree Maker.

As far as Buchner is concerned, please advise where your husband fits in and i'll send you something. what i have goes back to 1400's. best regards, Neil Daniels
