Finally found my g grandmother in the 1920 census for
Broome County. She is listed as a white female age 77 born in Canada arriving USA in 1914 but still listed as an alien. For some reason she ended up as an inmate in the
Broome County Almshouse with several others (lines 1 thru 50, V.12, E.D. 72 Sheet 20, line22)
Susan
Olive Lampman b:16Jan1842, dtr. of Alexander and Amanda (
Griffin)
Lampman in Wainfleet, Ont. She married Herman
Buchner in 1865 and they moved to
Inwood, Ont. He was killed in a train wreck near Alvinston, Ont. in 1883.
Susan was on the voter registration rolls for
Lambton County as late as 1913 and then disappeared. Will check to see how she disposed of her property.
Would like to find out place and date of death and hopefully find an obituary and cemetery and gather details concerning what the dickens she was doing in
Broome County.
Where was the
Broome County Almshouse?
Do they still have records available?
Her youngest dtr was Minnie b:3Dec1881 and her youngest son was
Darias b: 9Aug1885. Both left
Inwood around 1905 for parts elsewhere. I had assumed
Darias or Minnie had gotten married left Canada and sent for the mother and that is how i found her but not them.
Thanks in advance
Neil
