My dh has been told that we his grandfather came to the states, he was Szanyi as his surname ..But his name was Szaboszanyi...

You may be right, there is a family of us in Londondon Ontario Canada. My father Lewis (Lajos) senior came over in 56 during the revolution and married my mother who's from PEI on the east coast in Canada. They had 5 kids Sheila, Lewis, Joe, Rick and Liz so there is even more Szanyi's. It would be interesting to no if we are all related.

With that last name i would think that there has to be some relation. That happens to be my last name. I dont know too much about the family tree. I just know that my grandpa's parents came over from Hungry a long time ago. It could also be a common name in Hungry. Just out of curiosity, how do you pernounce your last name? We pernounce szanyi as (Sunny).
