My grandfather Charles Preston Nichols was born in Altus Arkansas 1874. His father was either James or William Nichols. His mother was Rebecca Bond or Bonds and I understand the Bonds came from Georgia. Charles Preston Nichols wed Mary Adelia Dialtha Smith from Ozark Arkansas. They lived in Arkansas until 1913 then they relocated to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Charles had several college degrees one was engineering. Any help would be appreciated. I am also searching for NICHOLS in Franklin Co. AR. Would like to share information.

From 1800 - 1813 John, James, William, & Edward NICHOLS were living on property James received as a land grant in Cumberland Co. KY. In 1813 James sold his property to William Hedger/Hedges and moved away. William NICHOLS was married to William Hedges daughter, Elizabeth.

Uriah NICHOLS, born 19 Aug 1840 in Marion Co. TN, son of Harvey NICHOLS,(born 1817) & Linia Blansett, married Elizabeth Ann JACKMAN, daughter of Capt. Richard JACKMAN & Chloe Fugate, both formerly of Cumberland Co. KY but moved to Barry Co. MO.
Uriah and Elizabeth NICHOLS lived in Cassville, MO (Barry Co) for awhile then moved to Altus, Franklin Co. AR.in 1866.

Solomon, son of Edward NICHOLS and Anna Johnson, was raised by a James JACKMAN after his mother died in 1830. (James JACKMAN is an uncle to Richard JACKMAN)

These NICHOLS have moved around so much it is hard to keep track of them, but I do think they all are connected to the same family. They have a common area of Cumberland Co. KY.

I also have Nichols in my line, and from Franklin County, Ar. I have a J.J. Nichols m. to Elizabeth(?) and children: Mary, Robert, John, Larkin, David, Pleasant, Arrena, and Margaret. My line continues on with John Nichols who married Amanda Agent, and children: Margaret, Martha, Sarah, Lou Ellen, Mary, John W. "Johnnie, Wallace, William, Rufus, and "Dub". From there my line is John jr. Nichols m. Martha "Mattie" Adams, and children: Lacie, Lottie, Eva, William, Alexander, Allie, Reecie, and Ted. My grandfather was William J. Nichols, and grandmother Easter Marie Waits. Maybe there's a connection somewhere!

I am searching for the children and wives of Henry Clay Hill who was borned in Franklin Co. about 1855.I know he was married to Margaret Ramsey and had my grandpa John Harrison, Samuel Franklin and Elizabet, Betty. He married again and had Elijah, Lige and Mattie. His 3rd wife's name was Ann McLaughlin. He lived in Franklin Co. all of his life, as far as I know.

Lori: I am trying to find the parents of my grandfather, Rufus Nichols, born in Altus, AR. Franklin County. His death certificate states he was born Jan. 6, 1870 while his marriage certificate states that he was born abt. 1864. He married Minnie Bell Chappell July 25,1887 in Yell Co. Arkansas and they had the following children:
1. Julus, b. Jan 1891.
2. Charles, b. Jan. 1891 (twins)
3. David, b. Jan 1894
4. Laura Mae, b. May, 1896 (my mother).

wow i can't beeive i found the name AGENT...i have a census from franklin co.. that lists a Clovis Agent. I dont have it in front of me now, but please if your interested let me know..my great grandmother was Julia Nichols, she married David A. Markham. i have a 1910 and 1920 franklin co, census. i started this search for my Markham History but i have dicovered thers alot more in my Nichols..feel free to email me anytime.

i would love to share nfo with you. my nichols connection is my great grandmother Julia Nichols. she married David A.Markham and i have a 1910 and 1920 census for franklin county I do think that all the nichols in Ark and surrounding areas are connected. but to pin them all down is almost impossible. I started looking for my Markham history, but have found myself diving farther into my Nichols line. hope i can help let me know please.

In Franklin co. Ark. I have many Nichols and Belt connections. I think I have Julia Nichols in my database.
Do you have any Belts? If you do we have this line back to Humprhrey Belt born 1615.
