I am related to the Luce family of Lenawee Co., Michigan. I have had no luck tracing this line past my great-grandparents (my grandmother's maiden name is Luce). ANY information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My aunt and uncle who were James(Jimmy as he was known)Luce and his wife Margaret lived up in Lake George, Michigan. My grandfather Gerald Bedore had a cabin on the lake and my uncle Jimmy owned the bait shop that was located there. This was back during the mid to late 1960's and I have a photo of Jimmy and Margaret that was taken in 1978. They have both passed away. I live in Modesto, California and I don't know if we are talking about the same "Luce". However, one of my brothers has done a lot of research and put a book together outlining our history from about 1800 through present. I am originally from Adrian, Michigan area. The people mentioned in my book are Lucy Luce, Squire Wood, Charles Wood, Dyer Wood, James, Triphena, Nephi, Joel (children). Lucy Luce is mother of Charles and Dyer, as noted in the book Presidents, Soldiers and Statesmen. In the U.S 1850 Census, a lady named Polly, age 57 is given as his wife's name. Lucy and Polly (wife) may be the same person or Squire may have married twice. If any of our information matches up, I would love to hear from you -- also if you would like any information I have please let me know.

My Wealthy Keeney m. a Mr. Luce. The families came from RI>CT>NY>Dumfries (Hamilton) Canada>Michigan settling in the Lowell\Alton\Fallasburg\Ionia\Belding areas. Wealthy was born 19 Jan 1793 in Tolland County, CT. Died 15 Nov 1857 in Grand Rapids, MI where she and Mr. Luce are buried with the Keeney's.
