I have a lot of information on Francis and Cynthia`s family. They were brother and sister, children of Alexander and Nance last name unknown McKee. They were probably born in Franklin county Indiana. Alexander was born in Pennsylvania 20 Oct 1779, a son of Samuel and Rachel Davidson McKee. The birth date is from the DAR listing for Samuel McKee, who was a Revolutionary War veteran:
INDIANA DAR p. 430

DESCENDANT: WRIGHT, Ruth Ree, No. 557356

Samuel and Rachel and family came to Hamilton county Ohio from Pennsylvania about 1797 according to a bio of his grandson Thomas McKee of Tippecanoe county Indiana, son of youngest son Eli.

I have early land records for Alexander and brother Samuel in Franklin county Indiana, and another brother, Lewis, is mentioned in one of them. I have a lot more information on this family, but to keep from being way too long I`ll stick to Alexander`s for the moment:

Alexander bought land in Grant county Indiana in 1837 and died there before 1846. Here are excerpts from his estate records:

I realize this is very long, but wanted to add the bio that mentioned Samuel`s family:

Biographical Record and Portrait Album of Tippecanoe County, Indiana, pp. 674, 677
Lewis Publishing Company, Chicago, Illinois, 1888.

THOMAS G. McKEE, sheriff of Tippecanoe County, is a native of Indiana, born in Rush County, Indiana, August 24, 1829, a son of ELI C. and NANCY H. McKEE. The grandfather of our subject, SAMUEL McKEE, was a soldier in the Revolutionary war. He removed form the present site of McKeesport (called after a member of the McKEE family) to Hamilton County, Ohio, settling near Cincinnati in 1797, when that city was a small village, and there he spent the rest of his life.

ELI C. McKEE, the father of our subject, was reared in Hamilton County, Ohio, and when a young man went to Rush County, Indiana. He was married while living in Rush County, to MISS NANCY H. GRIFFING, who was born in Bourbon County, Kentucky, remaining in her native county until sixteen years of age, when she removed with her father's family to Harrison, Indiana. Her father, EBENEZER GRIFFING, was a second cousin of the noted TOM CORWIN. In 1833 ELI C. McKEE removed with his family to Lauramie Township, Tippecanoe County, which he had previously visited in 1828, and located on 160 acres of barren land which he had purchased. He improved the land on which he first located, living on it until his death, which occurred January 19, 1877. In politics he was formerly a Henry Clay Whig, but became identified with the Republican party on its organization. He was a member of the Universalist church, his wife being a member of the Baptist church. She died August 27, 1876.

THOMAS G. McKEE, whose name heads this sketch, was but four years of age when the family settled in Tippecanoe County, and here he has since made his home, his youth being spent in assisting with the work of the farm, and attending the early schools of the county. He resided with his parents until his marriage, April 1, 1851, to MISS JULIA ANN ABBOTT, a native of Rush County, Indiana, and a daughter of BENJAMIN ABBOTT, who removed with his family to Tippecanoe County, in 1832, and died at Battle Ground in 1866. His wife died in Clinton in 1842. MR. and MRS. McKEE are the parents of four children--HARRIETT ANN, THOMAS CORWIN, MARK M. and MAUDE E.

After his marriage MR. McKEE bought land in Lauramie Township, where he has since made his home. In 1872 he began buying and shipping stock, to which he has since paid considerable attention. He never ran for public office until 1886. August 14 of that year he was nominated by the Republican County Convention for sheriff of Tippecanoe County, and November following was elected to that office, which he has since filled to the entire satisfaction of his constituents. He has been a member of the Republican Central Committee of Tippecanoe County several times. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity, belonging to the Masonic lodge at Clark's Hill
Have more, including Samuel`s will, but this is more than long enough for now.

Thank you for replying.

I do have some more questions. Where did Francis died and what years? Why did he left his children with his daughter Phebe Mote in 1885? Where did he go? Is Sarah and George mother name Nance. If so what is the name of Francis mother?

Where did Nance died and what year? Who is John Moore?

Do you have any pictures? Would love to have more information on this family. I have a picture of Thomas Jefferson Mckee and his wive Louisa Jane Davis.

I am not related to this family. I researched them while trying to find a connection to my John McKee, born in Pennsylvania in 1795 and in Dearborn county Indiana by 1830`s and died after 1850. We have researched several McKee families in Dearborn Franklin Ripley counties of Indiana and Hamilton and Butler counties in Ohio without much luck, but in the process have gathered a lot of information. I`ve had contact with people researching other children of Samuel and Rachel Davidson McKee, but no one descended from Alexander. Its nice to give the information I have to someone who can use it.
I don`t have any information on Alexander`s children after 1850 except the census records for Francis and Cynthia in 1860 and 1870 and Alexander in 1860 next to Francis.
Nance as the name for Alexander`s wife comes from the following land deeds in Franklin county Indiana:

This indenture made and entered into this sixth day of October eighteen hundred and nineteen between Alexander McKee and Samuel C McKee of the state of Ohio on the one part and Allen Ramsey of the county of Franklin State of Indiana of the other part whereas the said parties of the first part are indebted to the said Allen Ramsey in two several notes of hand one bearing date on the eleventh day of February last preceding the date hereof and being for eight hundred & ninety four dollars & fifty cents payable three years after the date of the said note the then bearing date on the eleventh day of October in the year aforesaid and given for five hundred & thirty dollars and payable two years after the date of the said last mentioned note. And being desirous to guarantee and secure to the said Allen Ramsey the said several sums of money at the times above specified.have in consideration thereof and also for the sum of one dollar to them in hand paid by the said Allen Ramsey at and before the signing and sealing of these presents grant bargain & sell unto the said Allen Ramsey his heirs & assigns all that certain tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the county of Franklin state of Indiana and more particularly described in a certain patent known and designated by its being the southeast quarter of section fourteen of township eight range two west of the meridian of the lands directed to be sold at Cincinnati by an act of congress which is more particularly described in a certain patent executed to the said Ramsey for the same. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land together with all and singular the rights members and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any way appertaining unto the said Allen Ramsay his heirs and assigns forever and the said Alexander and Samuel C McKee for themselves their heirs do hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Allen Ramsey his heirs that they the said Alexander and Samuel C the said tract of land with all and singular the rights members and appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said Allen Ramsey his heirs against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whomsoever claiming or hereafter to claim by through or under them or either of them will forever warrant & defend by these presents.
Provided nevertheless and it is the true intent and meaning of these presents that should the above Alexander & Samuel C McKee their heirs well and truly pay off and discharge the said several sums of money at the time specified in the said notes and according to the tenor and effect thereof to the said Allen Ramsey or heirs as in the said notes mentioned then these premises and every part and sentence thereof shall be null and void and of no force and obligation anything herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding. Note that in the second record Alexander`s wife Nance isn`t mentioned, so I`m guessing she had died. The wife had to sign because she had dower rights to the land. Of the children of Alexander that I am aware of only George W was born before this date, about 1817. I don`t know when Rachel was born, so she could have been Nance`s child too.
The others I am aware of are:
Sarah, b about 1824
Francis Marion born about 1825
Alexander, born about 1829
Cynthia, born about 1830
Elizabeth, born about 1834
Thomas, born about 1834

I am not sure who Alexander`s second wife was, but here is a possibility:

Date would be about right, as Sarah was born about 1824. Sarah was born in Ohio, all the later ones were born in Indiana, probably Franklin county, as the land deed for Alexander buying land in Grant county was dated 1837.

I tried too attach an image of the land purchase, but don`t think it will come through, as it is in Adobe Acrobat. If you can`t read it I can send it to you separately. It is important because it says that Alexander McKee was of Franklin county Indiana, which the printed information doesn`t say.

Here is a listing of what I believe to be Francis` father Alexander`s family, parents Samuel and Rachel Davidson McKee:
Samuel McKee and Rachel Davidson were married in 1781 in Pennsylvania. To my knowledge they had ten children:
David, born about 1780 in Pennsylvania
Lewis, b 12 Nov 1782 in Pennsylvania
Jeremiah, born 4 June 1786 in Pennsylvania
Elizabeth, born 21 Dec 1787 died 15 Jul 1848 in Brookville Franklin county Indiana, married James MeWhinney.
Alexander, born 28 Oct 1789 died before 1846 in Grant county Indiana, married Nance unk and a second wife, possibly Elizabeth Lanpher
Samuel, b 22 Sep 1793, married Nancy unk, was in Franklin county Indiana with Alexander, lose sight of him after that.
Rachel, born 4 Apr 1795, married William Brasier 7 Sep 1820 in Cincinnati Hamilton county Ohio, was also married to a Davis.
Mary, born 22 Jun 1798 probably Ohio, married Daniel Sturges 1 Apr 1819 in Hamilton county Ohio, they moved to Waldo Marion county Ohio, and after his death she moved with her children to Lacrosse Wisconsin and I believe Jefferson county Illinois.
Cynthia, b 22 Aug 1800 in Ohio, married 1 Jan 1834 in Hamilton county Ohio to David Osborn moved with him to Tippecanoe county Indiana by 1840. In Columbia township Hamilton county Ohio in 1850, David in Tippecanoe county 1860, Cynthia deceased?
Eli, b 4 Nov 1802 in Ohio, married Nancy H Griffing, probably in Rush county Indiana, moved to Tippecanoe county before 1840, lived there rest of his life.

Samuel`s will published 1824, so he died before then. Rachel moved to Tippecanoe county with her children, died there 7 Sep 1841.
