I am looking for information on Redden Harley Langston (born around 1896) who was married to Lebby Carmon. I know that Harley's parents were Bennie Langston and Rillie Strickland. The lived around Florence and Olanta, SC. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Redden Harley Langston
Hello, From the Darlington District Cemetery Survey V.111 "Mount Hope Cemetery, Florence County" These Langston's are all buried next to each other. Might be sons of Redden & Lebby?
James Ardell Langston b.7/24/1927 d.10/10/1965 REDDEN H. LANGSTON b.7/10/1896 d.9/14/1959 LEBBY C. LANGSTON b.5/2/1899 d.9/4/1971 Larry Gene Langston b.1/20/1938 d.11/8/1953
Hope this helps! Jeff Hawkins

Thank you for replying to my post. The information that you supplied was some of what I already have on Redden and Lebby. My husband is their grandson. We were just at the cemetery a little over a week ago when another of their sons, Dewey Oneal Langston, was buried. I am looking for information about Redden's (family called him Harley) parents and siblings. I know that his parents were called Bennie and Rillie Langston, but I think that those were nicknames and not their formal names. I also know that Rillie was married to a Woodham after Bennie passed away and had at least two sons with him, Coley and Ira. I am planning on sending off for Harley's death certificate in hopes that it will give me some more information about his parents.
In the 1900 Federal Census, there is a Langston household listed with the father named William and a mother named Rachel. There were three children - Madison (age 6), Redden (age 4), and Mattie (age 2). Harley would have been 4 in 1900 since he was born in 1896, and his first name was Redden (his son told me that his signature was R. H. Langston), so those two pieces of info fit. However, I'm not 100 percent sure that this is the right family.
Thank you again for your reply. Happy hunting.

Thank you. I have decided who M. Ardell Langston is...
1910 census:Effingham, Florence, South Carolina Household Members: Name Age Buren Woodham 24 Rubie Woodham 25 [Rulie] Ira Woodham 3 Stepchildren: Ardell Langston 16 Harley Langston 14 Agatha Langston 11
1920 census Florence, Florence, South Carolina Household Members: Name Age Van Brien Woodham [Van Buren Woodham] 34 Nilla Woodham 44 Ira Woodham 13 Coley Woodham 7 Mary Langston 21 Edwin Langston 1 11/12
In 1920, Mary Langston [Margy Gause] is a daughter-in-law and widow of M. Ardell Langston. From census data, it appears he might have been Maddison Ardell Langston. Edwin is the only child on which I have any information.
World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918 Name: Madison Ardell Langston County: Florence State: South Carolina Birthplace: South Carolina;United States of America Birth Date: 12 Oct 1893 Race: Caucasian (White)
In 1930, Van B. and Rilla are in Gaston Co., NC with Coley. In 1950, Van died in Florence Co., SC. When and where did Rilla die? Do you know who her parents were?

According to her obituary in the Florence Morning News, Rachel Strickland Langston Woodham (only listed as Mrs. Rachel Rilly Woodham in the paper) died Friday, November 3, 1961, and was 86 at the time of her death, which puts her birth year around 1875. She was the daughter of James Madison Strickland and Sibbie (?) Lawhorn, both natives of North Carolina. Rillie was raised in Florence, SC. I think she may have had a brother named William Beatty (?) Strickland (born around 1866) and a sister named Martha (born around 1862)
