Hello,
I am searching for the following early immigrants to farms near "Freemont/Ohio" and "6 miles away from old
Sandusky"(1850). The families immigrated 1847-1848 and settled first near "Lower-Sandusky". Some worked in
Sandusky (the Schmitz brothers.

Their names are:

1.Eva Schmitz, nee Bartzen, died in Sandusky 08.09.1848 and was buried in a non catholic cemetary there.

2.Her brother Bartzen, died there in September 1848, too

3. her children: Johann (=John) Schmitz, born 04.08.1825

Anton Schmitz, born 25.01.1828

and her child

Elisabeth Schmitz, born 14.11.1823, she married to

Johann (John) Meyer, born 05.12.1811.

They had the following children:

Anna Meyer, born 28.01.1843

Eva Meyer, born 25.07.1844

Maria Meyer, born 01.10.1846

ALL THESE PEOPLE WHERE BORN IN GERMANY (Prussia). They emigrated from there in 1847/1848

and settled down near Sandusky/OHIO. I know that the Meyer family had a 180-Acres farm 6 miles from old

Sandusky-city.

Who can help me to find more abouut them ? I do live in Germany and do have no contacts to this region in the

USA.

sincerely

John C. Meyer married Elizabeth S. Schmitz and they bore ten children, one of whom was my Great-Grandfather John H.; another son, Anthony B. has his biography in "The History of Sandusky County", p. 522 (at Hayes Center, Fremont, Ohio) -- which tells one about his Father coming to America. The John C. Meyer Family has had a small reunion every year at Vickery, Sandusky County, Ohio. My Mother is a Meyer and she married a Zoeller whose Great-Grandfather immigrated around 1846 from Luxembourg to Seneca County which is where I am from. We are Roman Catholic. I have a list of descendants of John C. to 4th Generation American Citizenship. I mainly know my first cousins and those once removed only; since we live in a nearby town. I hope that you will hear from someone else that can be of more help -- with the Schmitz Line: But I would be very happy to know more about Elizabeth's Family and John's Family when they were in Germany.

Hello Andy:

My Mother's Grandfather, John H. Meyer, son of John C. Meyer was married to Mary Rosina Snyder, daughter of Francis Xavier Schneider and Anna Maria Rimmelspacher. We have gone to the Meyer-Schmitz Reunion at Vickery, in the past years. Do you, or any of your older relatives go? I have met John V. Gonya, who I believe is a near relative to you. Matt Park has his family tree up here, and I have given him our line. Elisabeth S. Schmitz was born Nov. 14 1823. If you are write about Mary Oberly, then her Father remarried after Elisabeth's Mother died in 1848. I didn't know about the civil war involvement. Would John C. have been involved, AFTER bearing all of those children? As to Charles Beier (b. 1854), he appears to be a second cousin, once removed, decended through the Schneider Family. I had him married to a Mary Chud, rather than Schmitz. Perhaps there are 2 Charles' or a second marriage? Write me if you like, I am somewhat concerned about sending to the "BobMarley" address. We have Marley's in town, and they are Irish

Hi Penny!

Yes, please write ... my address is more accurate. We need to delve into the Jacob and Johann C. Meyer connection. Brothers? And Suzanna Elizabeth Reineck, living with Johann C. until she marries Jacob's son? Would their Father and Mother be called Abraham and Ansia?

Hi, I'm Craig Kilstrom.

Francis Xavier Schneider and Anna Maria Rimmelspacher are ancestors of my wife, Susan Virginia Laterza, through her grandfather, Albert Alphons Snyder (grandson of Franz Xavier Snyder and Anna Maria Rimmelspacher). Let's get in touch. I'm researching her lines, including Snyder and Geibel.

My genealogy work this year is to neaten the information that I have. Plus, I am privatizing names, and keeping names. Using the 2008 software from ancestry, has inspired me to make this effort. First thing was to downsize the files, which means fourth cousins go in the notes. Your family are not fourth cousins, but third! Being involved in this necessary activity of preparing the files for better research, still, I am happy that you responded! I built my Schneider Family research on the small genealogy done in the 1980's, which you likely have also. I have added obituaries as they come. I have also found the Schneiders on the Passenger List for the ship Amelia, which arrived in NY from Havre, France on June 21, 1847. (ID: 686022; SN: M237; RN: 67. Yes, Francis' name comes out like this (P???), but the wife, Maria, and children are there. There is a family of Schneiders on the IGI, from Busenbach village of Karlsruhe, but, I have done no further research in that direction at this time. I will eventually. Of course they are in the 1850 census at 432A for Sandusky County. Maria's parents are Joseph and Christi(e)na (Mowery) Rimmelspacher of Busenbach Village near Karlsruhe.

Furthermore, Maria's brother, George, married Elizabeth Gabel. It seems that George came first to America, arriving on May 12, 1836 in NY from Havre, France, on the Ship Charles. See: SN: M237; RN:30; LN: 350. His descendants today are our fellow citizens in the county, to a great extent. My notes lack this bit, but, I believe George was the Godfather of Elizabeth, (if not Cornelius.) I have their Christening dates, though. St. Ann's.

There is a double Schneider influence in my background, which happens often now even in local families as we are all related it seems; as a Peter Schneider Family from Avon, had a daughter who married a Haubert. My Grandmother's mother is Theresa (Tracy)Schneider. I have not joined these two Schneider clans, though, I suspect a connection. Her brother, George William Schneider/Snyder married a Haubert also, and his family was in Sandusky County

You appear to have research findings that are unique to your collection.
Have you considered submitting your research to the Snyder and Rimmelspacher family biographical collections in the Hayes Presidential Center?
