My grandfather was one of
Augustus &
Lucinda Greene's children. His name was Edward Warren
Greene and his first wife, my grandmother was Amanda
Trotter Greene and she is buried in the Union
Grove Cemetery, but you listed her as a daughter, not daugther-in-law. He married
Susie McCollough the second time (no issue) and Lolla
Rice Butler the third time. He is buried in the new section of the Old Opelika cemetery. He was Chief of
Police for many years in that town. He had 4 children, Edward Warren, Frances L. Drake, Thelma
Roberson, and Lewis Clinton (my father). I remember
Uncle CB,
Uncle Roy, and
Uncle Penn as well as "Doc", and Aunt Annie Martin. Another daughter of
Augustus was Kitty who married and lived in the "Valley" area, but do not know her married name. Was most interest to learn the name of my great grandparents as no one ever spoke of them to me. I did take my grandfather out to see his old home place once before his death and know the general location. Of course another house had been built there, but he could still locate the old well. The oldest child of
Augustus had several children and we were close to Paul
Greene who resided in
Columbus and was an engineer on the Central of
Georgia railroad. His daughter, Mildred passed away a few years ago. I attended all her children's and grand's weddings and at one counted 17 direct descendents present in the
Greene family. CB, Roy, and
Penn all lived in
Columbus and worked on the Central of
GA RR. Roy was a conductor. His wife was named Myrtice. I often wondered where my father's name came from and you have answered this question for me.
Myrtice Ann
