Thought I should let you descendants of Timothy Bolan of Maine that the house he built prior to 1854 is on the cover of Old House Journal this month. It is currently on the stands and is June 2003 issue. Timothy is the son of John Bolan and Anna Lombard and the grandson of John Bolan and Chloe Jordin (jardin of Pembroke, Mass).

Hi Lynn, I have some correspondence from you to my late mother-in-law. The last appears to be 1980. Ruth Bolan Fair died Jan 19, 2000. She was 98 and outlived all her Bolan relatives, that I know of. She had Alzheimers and some of her work is sketchy. You were asking about a Winifred Rich. Her great grandparents were James Bolan and Nancy Rich. I haven't worked on this line for a long time, but those Richs were in the Hancock County area. Doesn't exactly explain the Winifred problem though. Janice O Fair jeof@comcast.net

Thank you for the information about Ruth Bolan Fair. I was in contact with her quite awhile ago. At that time, I think her twin brother lived in Tucson, AZ. Now I live in Tucson, but I don't know of any relatives still here. If you do, let me know.

I don't know if we'll ever know the reason little Winifred was in the Bolan Bible. She must have been related to Nancy Rich, but no other Riches were recorded.

Ruth's twin James E Bolan died in the 80's. He has two daughters in Tucson I think. But I doubt they were interested in family history. At least the subject never came up when one of them used to visit. Did anyone ever find Winifred in the cemetery in Winterport? Janice

I think Winifred is in the Nathaniel Rich lot with the wrought iron fence around it in Oak Hill Cemetery in Winterport. I may be remembering incorrectly, but that's what comes to mind. I'll try to remember to check when I'm in Winterport in June.
