ARRELL, RATHBUN, MINGO

Hello all!
My great-grandfather was Francis "Frank" Richard ARRELL b. 26 Nov 1866 in Dayton and d. 13 Feb 1926 in Independence OR. He was married to my great-grandmother Lora Emma RATHBUN (b. 27 Sep 1869 in Brooklyn MN d. 7 Sep 1964 in Independence OR) in Burns, Anoka, MN on 1 Apr 1888 in the home of Eber M. RATHBUN (Lora's father). Frank and Lora moved with their children (they had 5 at that point) to OR in 1904, but they left much family behind in Anoka Co. and the surrounding area. Before Frank and Lora moved they lived on a farm in Burns, Anoka Co., MN. From the best I can tell, both Frank and Lora's parents lived in Anoka Co. as well. MINGO ties into this because two of Franks 10 siblings (Josephine ARRELL and William ARRELL) married a MINGO brother and sister (Edward MINGO and Philomine MINGO).
I have much more information, although for every bit of info I have I'm probably missing a piece! ;-) (Isn't that the way genenalogy always is?!) I'm definately willing to trade/share information!!
So if you have ARRELL, RATHBUN, or MINGO in Anoka Co. or any of the surrounding counties, please drop me an e-mail at SWilli0917@aol.com.
I'd also be interested in hearing from *anyone* researching ARRELL, no matter where your ARRELL line might be from.
Thanks much!

Sharyl

My paternal grandmother was Armine (Hermine?) Mingo and she was married to William Henry Arrell in Elk River on January 2, 1897. I've got info on the Mingo family dating back to Louis Hebert born in France in 1575

I would be very interested in talking about your Mingo connections. I too have the genealogy of the Mingo's (my 2nd great grandmother was a Mingo...Rose-Delima who married Louis Charpentier. I also have some confusing and unverified information on the Mingo's of New York who claim native heritage and say they are cousins on the same lines. I cannot see the connection and I though perhaps you knew. Would be pleased to hear from you.

I too am researching the Mingo-Dumaine family. My husband's grandfather was William Mingo DeMain born in Minnesota. He was the only one of his 9 brothers and sisters that dropped the Mingo for a last name and went by DeMain (oringinally Dumaine). The rest took Mingo. He married a woman named Mary Leona Gereau. His father was Napoleon Mingo DeMain. His mother was half French and half Mandan Indian. Her name was Lillian LaPointe. I'm trying to find out more. Does this sound like the same family? Margaret DeMain

I'm doing research on this family too. It's my husbands family. His great great grandfather was Joseph Mingo and he was married to Philomen Avery (Avey, Heve). They had 9 children. His son Napoleon was my husbands great grandfather. We ended up with the other half of the hyphenated name, Mingo-DeMain. The name was originally Mingeaux-Dumaine several generations back. This sounds like the same family. Margaret DeMain

Yes, same family. I have connected with the Napoleon Mingo / Lillian LaPointe descendants here in California and Oregon. Napoleon Mingo was my 2nd gr. grandmothers 1st cousin.(maybe 2nd?? can't get my software loaded. My puters a little buggy lately) Lillian Desautels dit LaPointe was my great grand-aunt. My grandfather (her brother) was Frank (Francois) LaPointe and stayed in Minnesota. Lillian and Napoleon immigrated to Klamath Falls, Oregon where there daughter still lives (she's 90+). I visited with her a couple summers ago. Please correspond directly to my email address. I have a lot of info and many cousin connections.
