Need Alvord, Lyon County, Cemetery lookup for Benjamin and Anna (Sanan) Deckert. Death dates unknown but presumed to be between 1900 and 1930. Anna's grave was moved here from Illinois where she had died.Benjamin and Anna are my great-grandparents. Son William married Tena Engelkes in Minnehaha County, SD and lived in Turner County, SD for a time. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Is it possible that the maiden name of Ann was SANOW and that her birth name was Alwine SANOW. I am looking for information on the DECKERT's that are listed on the 1900 census in Larchwood township. Deckert, Benjiman; wife Alvina; daughter - Lena; son - Charlie; son - Adolph

It is possible that Ann's maiden name was SANOW as all I have to go on right now is family lore. This may have been a 2nd wife of Benjamin's. I have heard tales of a Charlie who went to the Sacremento area and was never heard from again.

This is going to be a good learning experience for us. I was looking for a Lester Decker, married to a Tina Sanow in the 1900 Census when I noticed Benjamin Deckert and Alvina with their three children living on a farm (14) cloose to another Sanow I was looking for. Robert Jacobs and hi wife Emila A. and a son Edward on farm (16). The birth date of Aug 1851 listed for your (Ann) is the same as Alwine Wilhelmine Albertine Sanow, my great grandfathers older sister. Emila A. (Sanow) Jacobs was my grandfathers oldest daughter. She was born in Illinois, all the Sanows of this family lived there when they came to America in June 1876. There was a thrid Sanow married to a Robert Wilka that also lived in Larchwood that I am still trying to locate on the census. Hopefully we be able sort this out and find out who your Ann was.

Wilka, Robert was born Aug 19, 1855, in Pommera, Germany. He came to America in 1863, and settled at McGregor, IA. On Feb. 13,1863, he married Emilie Sanow, who was born Aug 7 1865. (typo in book, I don't know the exact date) There were six children born to them - Lena, Tille, Edith and William (all deceased); Bertha, (Mrs. Henry Donnelly) and Anna, both of Sioux Falls, S.D. The Wilkas moved to Lyon county in 1885 and settled on a farm south of Larchwood, later moving to Granite, IA. Emilie died on December 23, 1918, and Robert on June 10, 1925.

Bertha Donnelly was my great-grandmother. Her first husband was Frank William Wiegman Jr. They had one daughter, Dorothy.

Bertha Amelia Wilka Wiegman Donnelly was the daughter of Robert G Wilka and Emilie Marie Wilhelmine Sanow. She was born 21 Nov 1899 in Larchwood, Lyon County, Iowa and died 31 Oct 1981 in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County, South Dakota. Her second husband was Henry Donnelly.

Emilie Sanow was born on August 7, 1864 in Pampow, Stolzenburg Parish, Province of Randow, Germany. She came to the United States in June of 1876 with her family. Her family lived in Chicago until 1883 and then moved to Cherokee County, Marcus, Iowa.
Robert Wilka was born August 19, 1854 in Pampow, Stolzenburg Parish, Province of Randow, Germany.
Robert and Emilie were married February 13, 1884 at Cherokee, Iowa. They made their home there for one year and then moved to Lyon County, Iowa
