I have only the following information on William Dinsmore, and that being that he was a soldier and that he married (no date known) Mary Jane Purcell who was born: 8 Feb 1842, Bap: 11 Apr 1842. Her parents were: Benjamin Purcell/Elizabeth Thomas. I am able to trace her ancestry back to Portuguese Cove, NS.

Do you by any chance have a connection or knowledge of an Isabella Purcell who married a John Fagan in 1866 of Portuguese Cove?

Thank you so much for your response. That information is new to me and very much appreciated. I only viewed it today by chance. I thought I received a notice if a reply was posted? Sorry for the delay in responding.

Do you have any information about the Fagan connection to Isabella Purcell, in your line.

Hi Darlene Fagan:

My great grandmother was Catherine Fagan, who was the sister of John Fagan. Their parents were Simon Fagan Sr and Margaret Martin. Their other sibilings were Peter, Simon Jr, Mary Ann, Emmanual and Baraby Francis.

According to my information:
March 8, 2007 - 1901 Census, Portuguese Cove sub-district there is a family of John Fagan, born January 1, 1841 and his wife Isabella, born February 14, 1842 and their children, Albert, born April 15, 1876, John, born October 31, 1878 and Arthur V., born April 23, 1880. The only information I had on John Fagan is that he was born on January 6, 1840 and I don't rember where I got this information. This is likely the same individual.

My great grandmother, Catherine Fagan,(1846 - July 29 1894) and my great grandfather, William Higgins (1829 - May 26, 1896) was born in Herring Cove. After he was drownded while fishing with my grandfather, the family left Ketch Harbour, some came to Halifax and the others moved to Boston.

If you would like additional information, please contact me at higginsdg@hotmail.com
