My great, great grandfather was Benjamin Mitchum.
My grandfather was Benjamin Smart Mitchum and grandmother was Rebecca Sallie Brinson. They came from the Bonneau/Macedonia area.

Sallie,there is a Benjamin Smart Mitchum D-jan. 1976 buried in the Bonneau Baptist Cemetery Berkely Co. You can access the cemetery list by going to the S.C. Genealogy, Berkely Co. website.Quite a few Mitchums buried there as well as my family members.

please help me in finding all i can find about the Crossley family from spartenberg s.c.and later from planeville 'georgia , then in 1898 abouts they migrated to henderson 'texas. my father was louis kimbal crossley father George washingtion Crossley . born in /georgia married Sina Boyd in 1884 i believe an red headed freckled face airish

my family . included Noah . George Washington crossley , Louis kimbal Crossley ( my Dad). Sina Boyd, her father John Boyd , all from plainville georgia they migrated to Georgia with the great migration in 1848 from spartenberg for religeous reasons . and settled in plainville geeorgia .In 1898, they migrated again to henderson texas.
my grand mother died there in 1900 july , my grandfather died in 1905 . and the girls went to live in the baptest home . the boys could not go so they had to fend for themselves
oldest brother clifford worked on a farm for several years and eventually settled dowen on tyler texas with a bundch of kids . any help i can get about the crossley falily i would appreciate as i can not go back any farther than 1809 for Noah .

Both of your grandparents are descendants of James Riley Mitchum born 1799 died 1885.

Sallie is the d/o John James Brinson/Elizabeth R Mitchum.
Elizabeth is the d/o Thomas A Mitchum/Mary Catherine Hodge.
Thomas is the s/o of James Riley Mitchum/Susan Bell.

Benjamin S Mitchum is the s/o Benjamin W Mitchum/Ema Retha Hood.
Benjamin W is the s/o of William J Mitchum/Sara Jane Bishop.
William is the s/o of James Riley Mitchum/Susan Bell.

Welcome to the James Riley descendants club! I can trace my roots back to James Riley through 3 of his sons. He had 18 children in total. I'm currently working on an excel doc to get a count of his descendants that I can find. I have currently exceeded 2600! There are a lot of us "Mitchums"!
