Surnames: Lewis, Poe, Osborne
I am looking for anyone that might have information regarding my great-grandmother Dorothy Anne (Lewis) Poe. She was born 15 sep 1910, and died 16 Apr 1977. She is buried in White Deer, TX, and has a residence listed in 1930 in Gray County. She married Franklin J. Poe, and had a daughter, Dorothy Marie (Poe) Osborne.

Sadly, this is the extent of information I have been able to find, and no one in my immediate or extended family seems to know any information about her parents. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not related or acquainted and this is a courtesy lookup. Her actual birth was in 1909 'cause she was seven months old on 1910 TX-Hutchinson-Precinct 1-District 140-Image 1. Her parents were Texas-natives T. D. (Tom) Lewis and Vida Belle Bridges. Parental confirmation found on death certificates: Nona Bell Austin (14 Sep 1906 - 13 Apr 1940) and Gordon Raymond Lewis (18 Feb 1919 - 10 Mar 1967). They were Dorothy's siblings and can be found 1920 Randall-Canyon-District 208-Image 3. Dorothy misidentified as "Ortha" and Gordon was not even enumerated? He's with parents on 1930 Carson-White Deer so that's confirmation of birth. This family lived, primarily, in the upper panhandle counties. They are not easily researched. T. D. Lewis died 1933 and there's a find-a-grave memorial in Carson County. His mom, Sarah (1825-1915), buried in same cemetery as are several of Tom's kids. Unable to find a death certificate for Tom or Vida. That's perplexing? Vida Bridges wed T. D. Lewis 20 Nov 1900 in Montague County. The Bridges, led by Joseph S., found 1900 Montague-Precinct 1-District 46-Image 5. You'd think the Lewis-family would also be found 1900 Montague 'cause T. D. married Viola five months after the census? Not! Holler back so I don't drift away researching other surnames?

I need to move to other surnames so here's the summary on the Lewis-clan. Sarah Ann Hardisty wed David Lewis, 10 Oct 1843 in Franklin, MO. That's found https://familysearch.org/ David's son, Anderson, was three years younger than Sarah thus she was not his first wife. They're found 1850 MO-Jefferson-District 42-Image 41. Based on marriage date and ages of household occupants, Sarah was possibly mother of George(6) and Martha E.(3)? Thomas Dauton entered life in 1860. Worthy of note, George Washington Lewis (16 Nov 1844 - 26 Jan 1941) died in Somervell, TX. His mother identified as Sarah Ann Vance which might indicate subsequent marriage? Thomas Dauton Lewis (16 Feb 1860 - 22 Jun 1933) was, supposedly, born in Blanco, TX and died in Potter, TX. The informant was Veda Lewis, wife. Elvary Bell Lewis (10 Jul 1883 - 29 Nov 1946) was born in Grayson, TX and died in Carson, TX. Evidently, "Vida" was her pet name?

Thank you for your efforts on this. It's amazing no one in my family at all has any information on my great-grandmother, so this will help me make a few more steps in that direction. Sorry for slow responses.

You're welcome! Hard to understand why the family has not been adequately documented? There are only two trees, with scant info, available for public view. Lookup 1940 TX-Carson-White Deer-(33-5)-Image 19 for Clem E. Rusk age 37, Annie age 26, Lewis B.(16), Madaline F.(14), and Billy C.(12). That's Sarah Annie (nee: Lewis) Rusk's family. Click on Billy prior to accessing the image and there are "suggested records", one of them leads to his obit. Evidently Sarah Annie remarried after Clem's demise? The obit has her surname as "Beisch". Clem Earnest Rusk (11 Jun 1903 - May 1968) died in New Mexico and predeceased Sarah Annie by 29 years. The obit does not mention Billy's first wife, Betty Jane Munsey. She was mother to daughters Carolyn Sue and Janie Lee born in Howard County, 1948 and 1952 respectively. Their brothers: Roy Blaine, Troy Wayne, Billie Lee, and Thomas Lynn were born to Mary Frances Kimbrough. You must be very young 'cause they are your second cousins one generation removed? Billy's sister, Frances Madeline Rusk, and Clyde Austin Rhoden had Gary Durwood in Taylor County.
