Hi,
I asked Imie, some time ago, if there were any left. She said that they were all gone. So, if you want to own a copy, you'll need to find someone that wants to sell their copy; or you could perhaps borrow one through inter-library loan; or just see if someone could do a look up for you.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Robin

I have further info about the authors of this book (my father was a substantial contributor to it). Maybe that will help. You might try contacting the Ashley County Historical Museum in Hamburg.
"Reflections of Ashley County," Mary Imogene Noble Carpenter & Robert A. Carpenter Sr., editors. Published by Curtis Media Corporation, Dallas TX, 1987.

I am sitting here looking at the book, "Reflections of Ashley County: Including History of Ashley County by Y.W. Etheridge," which I have borrowed from my cousin. ISBN: 0-88107-117-X. Curtis Media Corporation (Dallas Texas) - 1988. Our relatives are included - Watkins, etc. I, too, am looking for my own copy. So, if you find one, please let me know! Thank you.

Fortunately, I have a copy of this book. I won't promise anything, but I could try to do some limited look-ups....

I'm hoping to use some photographs from the book in another publication--but have not been able to obtain any information on Curtis Media Corporation in order to get a copyright release.

Has anyone else attempted to get a copyright release for use of material in the book?

Thanks,

Jim

Surnames: White, Cothran
Sandy,
Can you still look at this book? If so can you see if anything at all appears on the J.H. White family of Hamburg, Carter, Ashely, AR of 1860...........I am quite interested in any information on their daughter {already married by that time} Mary A. White and her Husband E.A. Cothran and their children. I need names for the children and to find out where they went and what happened to Mary Ann?
Much thanks in advance,
Gail

Jim,
I need a lookup. I need to see if perhaps the J.H. White family appears in this book? If so does it mention when he died if he left a will or anything to that nature?
I am most interested in his eldest child, a daughter Mary A. White, she married into my line Cothran in Calhoun Co. AL in 1851. I have this same family on US Census in 1850 Benton Co./Calhoun Co. AL. p. 331 roll M432_1 and again 1860 Hamburg, AR Carter, Ashley, M653_37 p. 213

Then from an old Newspaper article on E.A. Cothran husband of Mary Ann White, it said he was going to visit his children in Hamburg, AR Christmas of 1875 he died in 1876 while employeed at the Gadsden Times Newspaper in Gadsden, AL Etowah Co..................................

Did Mary Ann take his children and leave him?
Did she die young? Who were their children?
Why were they in Hamburg and he was in Gadsden?

Much thanks for any tid bits at all on this bunch,
Gail

Gail,

Sorry, but I don't think any of your WHITE's are in the book. There are no COTHRAN's in the book. As for WHITE's, here is some of what's there:

p. 422 John W. WHITE and son Emory Owen WHITE (b. 12 Aug 1882, AR)...also two siblings of Emory.

p. 423: John WHITE (different than above) (b. 1813), son is Henry Clay WHITE (b. 15 Jan 1854, LA) (many other siblings of Henry Clay included)

p. 425 Tyler Taswell WHITE m. abt 1850 Samantha Jane STANLEY, son John WHITE m. 1902 Willie BAILEFF

Many other WHITE's are mentioned, but most are more recent (b. aft 1880). There are also several WHITE's included in other sections of the book (per the index) that I haven't gone through--but I doubt if Mary Ann is included since the COTHRAN surname is not in the book. (The index only has surnames).

Good luck!

Jim

I would like to have a copy of this book. I am willing to, literally, pay to have someone copy it. Can anyone help?
