Hi, Neil (how spelled on Census) and Eva Sullivan were living in 1920 in Washtucna, Adams Co., WA. Neil, b. IL, 20 yrs old, farmer wheat farm and Eva, b. IL, 19 yrs old.

In 1930 they were living in Lind, Adams Co., WA. Neal (how spelled in Census) D. b. IL, 31, marr @ 21; Eva M., b. IL, 30, Lloyd L., b. WA, 8 and Gone {how it appears on Census too) b. WA, 6.

A Neal Sullivan Last Residence=Spokane, Spokane Co., WA; born 10 March 1898; Died=June 1969. His soc. sec. # was assigned in MN before 1951. Source: Social Security Death Index.

A Neal Sullivan died June 14, 1969, Spokane City. Source: WA Death Index 1940-1996.

You can request a copy of his obituary from the Washington State Library, www.secstate.wa.gov/library/ask.aspx . They will look in the newspaper microfilm for 60 minutes at no charge & email what they find to you. I'd do this first before ordering a copy of the death cert to be sure this is your Neal Sullivan.

A Eva M. Sullivan, Last Residence=Walla Walla, Walla Walla Co., WA; Born 16 Feb 1899; Died 4 Oct 1988. Eva's soc. sec. # was assigned in WA in 1961. Source: Social Security Death Index.

An Eva Sullivan, Died 4 Oct 1988, Walla Walla, Age=89 per death cert #029972. Source: WA Death Index 1940-1996.

I'd request a copy of Eva's obit to find out about her survivors. I didn't find Lloyd or Gone in the death records that I have access too. Successful Searching!

The first step in posting or identifying a person that you seek is to FULLY identify the person that you have interest. There were probably MANY Neal/Neil (even Kneel, a friend) that could match your criteria. You may have the below, I did not and needed it for verification process.

The 1900 Census for Martinsburg, Pike County, Illinois
Katy, Sullivan, head, born June 1859 in illinois to both parents born in Ireland, a Widow, mother of 7 all living
Mary E, born April 1880
Charles L, Oct 1885
John H, Nov 1882
George E, Aug 1887
William T, may 1891
Warren T, Aug 1892
Neil D, March 1898
--All Children born in Illinois.

The World War I Draft Registration Card Image database.
"Neal David Sullivan" (as written), living at Washtucna, WA, age 19, born March 10, 1899 (In the years I've been doing genealogy, I seem to find the DOB is off by 1 year in about 50 percent of the draft cards. Why? I have only speculation [not valid in genealogy research] ). He was involved in farming for himself. His nearest relative was his brother George Sullivan at the same address. Neal was medium in height, slender in build. He signed his draft registration on Sept 12, 1918 at the local board for Adams County, in Ritzville.

The Social Security Death Index shows a Neal Sullivan, born 10 March 1898, died June 1969 "last residence" in Spokane, WA. His Social Security Number 477-03-7836 was issued in Minnesota. You can order the image of the application (SS-5) for this person's SSN from the Social Security Administration (SSA). It would show many identifiers, to include the name, date of birth, place of birth, parents name, employment (if applicable), etc. An exact image is $27.00, just a computer extract is $18.00. This would verify if this is the correct person. If he was married at that time, it would identify a spouse.
--The "Last Residence" is NOT always where a person was living when died, but where a final payment, usually the "death benefit" was sent; or, where someone identified this person had died (funeral home, etc). So, you run the risk that someone that was living in Adams County, may have died in a hospital in Spokane and the funeral company involved had sent in the address. The "last residence" IS NOT a trustworthy notation.

The child in the 1930 census was probably not "Gone", could be "Gome".

Your FIRST task would be to contact the Washington State Library to request an obituary on Neal as identified, via: http://www.secstate.wa.gov/library/ask.aspx
