Hello Roy,
The Cotter re-union is to be held at the Binalong Hall on Sat. 4th October and Sunday 5th October at Binalong New South Wales, near Yass. Binalong is a small place so you won't miss the Hall. All attendees are requested to bring their own food and drink and make their own arrangements for accommodation. What connection to this family do you have ?

Hi Pam
My mother was Alma Ada Cotter

Alma Ada Cotter, born 14 September 1927 in Queen Street, Binalong, N.S.W. Australia; died 5 December 1964 in Adelaide, S.A. Australia.
I have only met one other Cotter relative and she was Jody Upton who lives in Redcliffe Qld, so it should be interesting

Hello
I am researching my G-G-GRAND parents. My G-G-Grand mother was Elizabeth Flynn nee Cotter the daughter of Michael Cotter and Catherine Dodd. I believe that she was born 1 August 1855 in the Yass area.
I was wondering if you might be able to help me with any information about both Michael Cotter and Catherine Cotter nee Dodd.
Thank you
Bumble

Hello Bumbles,

Elizabeth Flynn (nee Cotter) was the tenth child born to Michael & Catherine Cotter (nee Dodd). She was born at Taylors Creek, Fish River, NSW on the 1st August 1855.

Fish River is now named Callaba Creek, and it isn't the present location by that name near Gunning. I assume Taylors Creek is a tributary to Callaba Creek (previously Fish River). There is a location named Taylors Flat in that area close by to Narrawa, and there is a Fish River Road near Narrawa, and a Dodd Creek close by.

Michael Cotter was the son of James Cotter, and he was born in either 1809 or 1812 in or around Fermoy in Co. Cork, Ireland.

Catherine Dodd was the daughter of Patrick & Catherine Dodd, she was born in Rathcool, Co. Dublin in 1818.

Hope that helps,
Dafydd

I also am a decendant (great grandson) of Michael Cotter and Katherine Dodd.
I meant to get to the reunion but unfortunately could not.
Would like to know how it went.

Hi Ray

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get to the reunion. Michael and Catherine were my G-G-Grandparents. If you have any specific questions about them I may be able to help.

You will note on the Message board messages from Daffyd - he is extremely knowledgeable about the family and is quite prepared to help any other researcher, although I haven't contacted him fro a while.

Cheers

I grew up near Binalong. And was probably in town when that reunion was on!!! Would be interested to see if anyone got the 93 page document that was mentioned. Is Garrett Cotter the one that Cotter Dam was named after? My mum always tells me there is a connection .. and one to royalty *LOL ... sometimes I just don't believe her.
