This is what I have so far. I am James Tobin. (One of six children)
Since I have a reference for a Mary J. Doran or Stapleton living on Prince Edward Island, I thought I'd give it a try parking this here.
My father was Vincent John Tobin (b.Oct.17,1920,Cambridge, MA., and died 1993 in Orange County,Ca.)he had a brother named FRANCIS XAVIER JOSEPH TOBIN...of which I have no info at all.
His father was Richard Henry Tobin (b.July 1893,married about 1919) to Frances M. Kermer,(Aug.1888,Cambridge,Ma.)
Henry's father was my great-grandfather William Henry Tobin,(b.Feb. 1843)Cape Breton,Nova Scotia,Canada, married to Mary J. Doran,(b. June 1856)-Prince Edward Island)
William's father was NICHOLAS TOBIN, (My great-great-grandfather)(b.Feb.1843,CAPE BRETON,NOVA SCOTIA)was married to Ann Temperance Wilson,(b.May 1807, from Ireland, died Dec. 1889,Sydney,Cape Breton,NS,Canada.
Ann's parents were John Wilson (or Wootzen) Born about 1784, Ireland, married Sept.14,1808,St. George,Sydney,CB,Nova Scotia, Canada. Ann's mother was Eleanor Batersby, b. about 1786, Cape Breton,NS,Canada.

I come to an an end with my G-G-Greatfather,NICHOLAS TOBIN and ANN TEMPERANCE WILSON, and also with Ann's parents, John Wilson and Eleanor.
If possible, I'm seeking info further back. Does anyone have any such relatives beyond Nicholas and Ann?
Thank you for any additional information...I still have to get to my local Family history Center in Orange, Ca.(So.Cal)
Thank You!

Re: TOBIN, WILLIAM HENRY TOBIN married to MARY DORAN STAPLETON
I may have some information for you regarding the Tobins from Cape Breton, N.S. My boyfriend is a Tobin from North Sydney. He is going to do some checking on this, as the family has an interest in genealogy. I'll get back to you when I have more info.

Melanieanne31, ...ANY info he can find out from these two people would be a blessing. I start this, then get discouraged from lack of results. Then periodically, I get mail from people like you that are willing to help so thanks a bunch!

Re: TOBIN, WILLIAM HENRY TOBIN married to MARY DORAN STAPLETON
Hi James,
I think we may have some family members in common.First, my name is Wendy M. Maher (Tobin-McDonald) my maided name. My mother is a TOBIN.
My grandfather was William Henry TOBIN(b.14 July 1936, Boston, MA. d. 1996), his father(my great-grandfather) was Nicholas Francis TOBIN(b.13 Dec 1896, Chelsea, MA.) I believe he is brother to your father Richard Henry TOBIN(b. July 1893), who I believe to be older than Nicholas Francis TOBIN.
What I am searching for are William Henry TOBIN(b.Feb 1843, in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada)married to Mary J DORAN(b.June 1856, in Prince Edward Island, Canada.) I found a 1900 U.S census record that shows Richard and Nicholas as their only children at ages 6 and 3 respectively.
If there is any information that you have beyond that I would greatly appreciate it. Also, if there is anything that I could share with you, please ask.

Hello Wendy! Very Interesting! We do share similar names, although my dates are not correct according to my pedigree chart. People have given me the names and dates and I (silly me) just add them in the chart, without checking the dates.
One thing is certain, My father was Vincent John Tobin, (Cambridge, MA., 1920-1993) He had a brother named Francis Xavier.
My Grandfather was Richard Henry b.1898,and was married to Frances Kermer. My Great-Grandfther was William Henry and was married to first wife-Catherine Shea, then second wife-Mary Doran Stapleton b.1856-?
My Great-Great-Grandfther was a Nicholas Tobin, b.1798, d. April 7, 1887? He was married to Ann Temperance Wilson (1807-1889) Ann's parents were John Wilson(or Wootzen) (1784-1806)& Eleanor Batersby (1786-Sept. 14,1806, and that's all I have so far. Like I said, these dates could be wrong and not checked out.
Someone also just gave me Nicholas Francis Tobin, born Dec.13, 1896 died April 12, 1978 in West Roxbury, Suffolk, MA., so he is maybe the brother of Richard Henry you talked about. Apparently, I'm missing a very recent gap. I have my Great-grandfather as "William Henry Tobin" b. 1843, and you have him down for(b.14 July 1936, Boston, MA. d. 1996), and his father (my great-grandfather) was Nicholas Francis TOBIN (b.13 Dec 1896, Chelsea, MA.) I have Nicholas' dates as 1798- 4-7-1887. My bad,... somewhere...
I have attached (below)what I have so far. Thanks for all of your valuable info, and help! Jim

Re: TOBIN, WILLIAM HENRY TOBIN married to MARY DORAN STAPLETON
Thank you for the clarifications. One of the problems I am running into with this line is everyones name is William Henry, or Nicholas Francis. I will have to look into the Nicholas Francis and Richard Tobin that you mention, I think that sounds promising. If there is any other information that you think I can help you with just ask! Good luck on your serch.

Hi Wendy, Do you happen to have Ann Temperance Wilson, or Frances Kermer, ever being married to Richard Henry Tobin? anywhere in your tree,if so, is there anyway to trace their time, to the present, or does all this research have to first start with us, then to go back?
There are several, Richard, Nicholas and William Henry's, but I don't think there is a set of these same names in everyone's tree. Jim
I thought my Great-Great-Grandfther was Nicholas Tobin, b.1798, d. April 7, 1887? He was married to Ann Temperance Wilson (1807-1889)But I should have more recent dated Tobin names starting with my dad.
