Ruby, I just started doing research on my family and saw your message. Since it was posted in 1998 you may already have the info you were seeking. If not let me know as I can give you all the info you need. Dabney and Elna were my grandparents, Mary Ayers was my mother. Please let me know if you have any info about the Harris side prior to that. Thanks!

Kathleen and/or Ruby,

Nannie Eleanor Dunkum who married Joseph Dabney Harris was my great grandaunt. I would love to know more about the Harris descendants since the Harris name comes into my family tree in other ways too from Buckingham Co.
Thanks!

Fran,
I wish I had more info to offer on the Buckingham/Cumberland Harris', but unfortunately all I have is Frances Harris b. abt 1769 who married William Newton, Sr. b. abt 1767. Both died in Buckingham Co.
The rest of my Harris' are from the Hanover Co,VA area.
If I can help you with info from that area, please let me know.

Hello

My Great grand mother was Mary Elizabeth Lesueur.
Can you tell me how much you know abou the Lesueur family tree, and how
far it goes back.
The Lesueurs married with the Dunkums, and the Dunkums married with the
Newtons.

Do you know the origin, and history of the Lesueurs in VA, and
Buckingham county?

Troy V.

Your grandmother, Mary Elizabeth LESUEUR who married James Garland DUNKUM was the d/o James John LESUEUR and Sarah Jane DAVIS. James John LESUEUR was the s/o Peyton LESUEUR Jr & Mary ? I do not know the parents of Peyton LESUEUR Sr. The LESUEURs are from France. David LESUEUR Jr was born in 1703 in England. He came to America and settled in Manakintown with all the other French people. He married Elizabeth CHASTAINE (another French family). David LESUEUR's father, David LESUEUR Sr who was from France, married Catherine FELL, and in leaving France went to England and stayed there at least long enough to have a son. David LESUEUR Sr's father was Pierre LESUEUR. I feel sure "your" Peyton LESUEUR was from this line and with more research you can probably find out just how. Most if not all VA LESUEURs were from those who settled in Manakintown.
