We are researching the Bartlett family who settled in SA during the 1800's. Thomas Bartlett married Ellen Flynn and our family is descended from their son Thomas who married Jessie Reed in Broken Hill.

An elderly aunt recently passed away and we have inherited a couple of photographs. One is labelled Auntie Winifred & Uncle Fred Bartlett. I assume "Fred" is the brother of Thomas Jnr but am unable to confirm his wife was Winifred....

There is another photo taken by XXXNeills 184 Rundle Street Adelaide. This photo is of a baby and would have been taken prior to 1920 when the photographic studio moved. I am going to try and attach the photo. Does anyone recognise the child or can anyone help with other details about Fred & Winifred? TIA

Thanks Rhonda for that info. I was right in my assumption about who was in our photograph. Given that they married in 1905 and they appear to be the only Bartlett rellies that stayed in contact with our branch the photograph of the baby is possibly one of their children, probably the eldest. I number of people on Ancestry have Ellen Flynn in their tree and so far I don't think anyone has got any more detail than her name and where she came from (ie Cork).

My husbands family is descended from Thomas and Ellen's son Thomas. They were mainly at Moonta then through to Broken Hill and on to Sydney.

I for one have absolutely no information on Sarah or her descendents so would appreciate whatever you can give me. I can also let you have the info we have on the Bartletts and descendents. It isn't much because Thomas Jnr married a lady called Jessie Reed (who we can't trace: she isn't the Jessie Reed that shows up in the indexes)and they only had one daughter. Jessie Bartlett had two admissions to Parkside Hospital in Adelaide and finally died there in 1908. Thanks again for the offer and the contact.

The Elgin [49/17] arrived 10 Sep 1849 Pt Adelaide from Liverpool and the passengers were orphan girls were from institutions at Clonmel (15), Fermoy (30), Killarney (35), Lismore (25) and Skibbereen (85). The following passenger list has Ellen FLYNN who I believe is ‘your’ Ellen.
