My husband's grandmother was Marjary Lucy Wingate of TX. My husband's 1stcousin Floyd Thompson traced these Tx. Wingates, Descendants of Edward Taylor Wingate, back to N.C. in 1686. Edward Wingate and John Wingate were probably the immigrant ancestors.Several members of the Wingate family of Wilmington N.C. participated in the American Revolution...Walter, Edward, John, Robert Wingate. I will be glad to look up any Tx. Wingates in his book.

My paternal grandmother was Edna May Wingate. She was the daughter of Edward Taylor Wingate, Jr.

I am looking for information on my ancestors Walter Wingate and his son Robert Potter Wingate, married to Mary Louisinda Bacot/Bacoats. The information I have is that Walter was born ca 1762 in NC and Robert P. was born ca 1790 in NC. I don't know who Walter's father is. Any help on this line is greatly appreciated.
