Looking for information on John Bedford Creque (died 1902) and Henry Creque, both born on Anegada. John remained in BVI, Henry went to St Thomas. John Bedford had two sons: William and James, also born on Anegada? William also lived on Norman Island for a time. His first wife? was a Knight, (dob? dod?)who died very young. They had three children: Rosamund, Morris and another girl. His second wife? was Anita Knight (dob? dod?) with whom he had five children: Florence Ercell (b 1901), Clarissa (dob?) Dricque (dob?) Ellermond (dob?) and Harold (dob?) and three others, a boy who later married Rosaline Fonseca, another boy and a girl both of whom died on the same night on Norman Island, at the ages of 13 and 3 respectively. William married a third time (name not known) but there were no children? Does anyone have information on any of these persons?

The Creque family are descended from one of the Huguenot generals a Count who fought to protect their side after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes and the St Bartholemews Day Massacre. His personal secretary was named Marcou or Markoe from which that family is descended. Creque is also spelled Crequy. The other leader was Gaspard de Coligny. For a while now St Croix has had both Creques and de Colignys. The Creques recently sold Normans Island for over 10MM to the family who also own Guana Cay Hotel. Apparently they intend to build a place similar to Richard Branson's on Necker. Care to cough up 10K a day for you and your friends to stay there? I am an Anegada Creque descendant circa 1850. Mothers fathers mothers fathers mother or something like that.

Hi Sandra,
I hope you will receive this message. I am not a Knight by blood but my mother was married to a Knight and had 4 sons. My mother was married to Chaplain Smart Knight. His father and mother was named Felmine and Dozina Knight. Felmine and his wife was born and raised in Anegada. If I am not mistaken, they moved to Totorla and there they had Chaplain, Claude and another daughter. Chaplain was born in 1919, I don't know what year Claude and the sister was born.
By 1940, Felmine, Dozina were living in Harlem. My mother and Chaplain was married in Puerto Rico and move to Harlem with them. By 1940 all the "Knight" family was living in Harlem.
In your message, I saw the name Anita Knight. I remember Harold Knight when I was a little girl. He was affectionately known as "Uncle Harold". I remeber he had many children and one of them was named Anita Knight.
If you recognize any of this information, please let me know. The "Knight" family as I know them, have family reunions and Anegada Dances every year.
Peace, Yvette Hinton
