I am trying to connect with others who are related to the Asa Cobb line. Original Asa (there were several) was b. 1701 Landsend, Cornwall, England. Later immigrated to NY state and PA.I would like to see if anyone has any birth information on him other than a year.

Do you know if the Asa Cobb line is related to any of the other Cobb lines like the one in Massachusetts? Has anyone in your family been part of the Cobb DNA project?

As far as I know our Asa Cobb was not related to any in Massachusetts. The first Asa Cobb (b.1701) came from Land's End, England and was in Orange and Dutchess Co., New York. Subsequent generations were in Pennsylvania and then migrated west to Ohio, Indiana, and Missouri. Still later my Cobb line moved to Arkansas and then Texas.

No, none of my immediate family is involved in the DNA project. My great-grandfather John Henry Cobb died in 1944, my grandmother died in 1968 and my mother died in 1991. My grandmother had siblings but I do not have the information on them other than their names, however, my sister does. I do not know if they are still alive either.

That would be great. It is interesting to know how the lines of Cobbs connect. Diane

I have been working on compiling a history of Descendants of Asa Cobb and Mary Finch. This Asa's father is supposed to have been the Asa Cobb born in 1701 at Lands End, England. However, I have never seen source information on that. It seems to have come from a Boston Transcript message in about 1937. I have my doubts about the information. The first evidence of Asa (father and son, I think) is in the Beekman Patent (Dutchess Co. NY) when an Asa was a witness to a note for Simon Burton Feb. 18, 1746/47. At that date this might have been father or son. I believe, Simon Burton was originally from Connecticut and was of approximately the same age as Asa Cobb, the son born around 1823-25. I think Asa will connect to one of the New England Cobb families but I haven't found the connection yet. Diane

I would appreciate it very much if you could look to see whether it has parentage for Elizabeth Brundage, the wife of John Wesley Cobb of Greenfield, Lackawanna, PA (b 1787 New York), who was the son of Cyprian/Ziphron Cobb and Meriam Hunt.
