I am researching the Borski surname. I am looking for further information about Joseph Borski's wife, children, and brothers. I believe Joseph to be related to my gg-grandfather, Valentine Borski, but at this point I can find no documentation to support this theory. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

The funeral of Joseph Borski, whose home was on the Jordan road in Hull, was held from St. Peter's church Wednesday morning at 8:30 o'clock, Rev. L. J. Pescinski officiating. He died Sunday after a long illness with rheumatism and other complications. He was 50 years of age and leaves a widow and several children.

Hello Sandi, I've posted replies to you in the past regarding a possible relationship between Joseph (who is my gg-grandfather) and Valentine (who I have not found a firm connection to as of yet).

If you are still looking for information on Joseph's descendants, I recently posted an updated family tree on the Rootsweb site and you're welcome to use as much of that information as you like. However, I was doing some intensive research today and found several new things of interest:

1. Valentine Borski's death certificate in the Portage County Register of Deeds office (volume 22, page 58) says he was born May 27 1846 in Poland to John Borski and died January 15 1935.

2. The only death certificate that comes close to matching the information I have on Joseph Borski is Volume C, page 369, entry 80. But that is listed as Frank Borski, born Feb 12 1855 in German Poland to Frank and Magdalena Borski, wife Mary Borski, died January 15 1905 in the Town of Hull, Portage County. (I tend to believe there are some serious discrepancies on this death certificate since every other piece of documentation I have seen gives his name as Joseph Borski (Sr.), and his wife's name was Julia Maltz (or Malz). ) I did see a quit claim deed that Joseph signed less than a week before his death date, witnessed by Valentine Borski and Julia Borska (the female spelling of Borski back then in Polish), so that MAY add a little evidence.

3. Just to try to establish some sort of link to other Borskis in the area, I looked at the obituaries of a few Borskis I thought weren't related to Joseph Sr. The obituary of Julia (Borski) Belke says that she was born Nov 15 1877 in Poland to the late Mr. and Mrs. August Borski, and she emigrated with relatives in 1885 who eventually settled in the Town of Hull. (That triggers the possiblity to me that the "relative" was Joseph Sr.; I believe Valentine settled in the Town of Eau Pleine.) One of her surviving relatives was listed as her sister Mrs. Mary Goskowicz. In turn, Mary's obituary listed one of her surviving relatives as a cousin, Mrs. L.E. (Anna) Glinski, who would have been Joseph Sr.'s only daughter. Bottom line, if the relationships work out like I think they do, Joseph Sr. and August would have been brothers. (However, according to one of the books in the genealogy section of the Portage County Library, there is a biography on Julia's husband Emil Belke which claims that Julia's parents (Mr. and Mrs. August B.) never left Poland.) This may prove very helpful if a link can be established between Valentine and either Joseph Sr. or August.

Hope any of this information triggers something that establishes a few new relationships in both of our trees!

Thanks for keeping me in mind. I am in total agreement with you about that there is a connection. In January 2005, I had a subscription to Newpaper Archive.com and had found the obituaries for Anna (Borski) Glinski, etc. and a few others. For the life of me, I can not locate the copies that I made, but I had thought of you and reviewed your Rootsweb site at that time. The information that I have seen listed in these obituaries are very strongly leading me to believe that Valentine is a brother to Joseph, August, possibly Xavier, etc. But like you, I can not prove it at this point. I did recently find the funeral posting in the newspaper for Valentine listing the pallbearers as Paul Shilke, August Borski, Alois Okray, Jacob Borski, Emil Belke and Joseph Borski. In reference to the previous posting, also listed as pallbearers for Rozalia (Hintz) Borski, Valentine's wife, are Jacob and Joseph Borski, nephews. The only Joseph that I have listed in my database at this time is a grandchild of Rozalia and Valentine. I also do not have a Jacob. I also found the obituaries that I mentioned earlier.
