Joseph Stanley Szafranski DOB-1894 DOD 1952 Came from Russia around 20's to NY with a brother(name unknown) name was changed from what I don't know but is now Szafranski. Brother went to california. Joseph married Stella Walzcak from Poland 1930 in Phila, Pa. I would like to find any relative from Joseph to continue family tree. Any info would help.

I am looking for any information on the Walzcak family who emigrated to NYC in 1904, especially Anna (or Annie) Walzcak who was met at Ellis Island by her brother according to the copy of the records I have. She married Anthony Lewandowski (when?) and had her first child in Bayonne NJ in 1907. Her daughter, my mother in law aged 85,is desperately seeking any information about her mother Annie Walzcak.

I am replying to the walczak message. I think at this point I can not place your Ann or Annie in my family tree, as I only have 2 girls in this family. Stella and Cecilia. The rest are boys and I can't seem to connect Ann in this part of the family tree. And mostly they are reported to have come from Poland? I hope this helps somehow for your records? Any more info please let me know also. Thanks Sherri

I know that Ann or Annie Walczak came to this country in 1904 through Ellis Island. I also know she is listed as coming from Russia/Poland. She was met by a family member named Thomas Walczak who lived in NYC. I have a copy of the passenger list of the ship she sailed on if this is any help.Thankyou.

My mother was adopted and her birth certificate was spelled voychick. We think that was phoenetically spelled. Any way, I am trying to find out how this last name is pronounced to see if this particular person i am researching is my grandmother. Could anyone e- mail me with a phoenetic spelling of how this last name is pronounced. Her name was sophie. That is what caught my eye in your inquiry. But she was from philadelphia, Pa.

Walczak
I rec'd your message about the Walczak Family. I have very little info on just a few generations back. The name was pronounced "wall-zack" as they would have said it. Almost all the first generation is deceased and most are burried in St. Valentines Cemetary, bridge st phila pa. I hope that you have better luck than I , as I have attempted to contact the church on serval occassions and have yet to rec' a reply. The family names are as followed down the line Antoni & Maryann Walczak who had, Stella, Edward, Walter, Alexander,Leon,Matthew, Anthony & Cecilia. I have their children names also but none are Sofia at this time. Good Lucky happy hunting
And yes your are correct that the Walczak family was from Phila, as I thought came from from Polland but found out they did not so far.
