Hi Jan,
I have a question about researching in Madison County...I was wondering if you might know about what kind of information is available at the Madison County Courthouse? So far I've just been doing research at the Eville public library but was wondering what other info might be available elsewhere. Thanks!

Jan,
Thank you so much for your great offer! I am looking for ANYTHING you can find on Louis Thiele(Jan, 1870- August 28, 1938) married March 24, 1895 in Alton, IL, to Rena Eihausen (Dec. 1876-1910). Both died in Alton, IL. Thanks again.

Surnames: Josephine Allen
I need your help please.

My great-grandmother died in April, 1928. Her name was
Josephine Allen. Wife of Charles L. Allen. They lived at
the end of the old Poag Road in Edwardsville, Illinois.
She is buried in the old Woodlawn Cemetery in Edwardsville,
Illinois. I have a copy of her death certificate, but, being
the informant was her 4th husband, he knew very little of
where she was born, parents' names, etc.

Can you see if you can find the newspaper obit for her.

I am sure it would have been in the Edwardsville, Illinois paper.

Thanks so much.

Thiele in 1910 and 1920 Censuses (censi??)

In the 1910 Census, Louis Thiele, age 41, is listed in Alton as a widow, with 4 sons, Fred, Albert, William and Harry. He is from Germany, speaks English, and is a bartender in a saloon. His year of immigration is 1892.

In the 1920 Census, he is listed at the same address in Alton, widowed, living with a servant, Anni Heeren (age 58, also from Germany), two sons, Fred and William, and a grandson, Melvin Sexton. He is a laborer in a flour mill.

Let me know if you want copies of the census pages and I can e-mail them to you. My e-mail is hetaerae@swbell.net

Hi Jan,
Just wondering if you are still doing the limited lookups? I'm in search for a obit. I just found out a month ago, that one of my sibling, had deceased in Huntsville Prison at the Ferguson Unit which I was told is in Madison County. If you are still doing the lookups, will you please check and see if there was a obit for him in the local Newspaper?
