THE BOULDER AGE-Jefferson County, MT - 10/12/1904

Jefferson county loses a good citizen in the death of John T. Filcher of Boulder, although he has not been among his acquaintances for some time as he was stricken with paralysis about seven years ago since when he has been confined at his home, gradually growing weaker and more helpless, tenderly and faithfully cared for by his family, but the end came last Thursday morning. Deceased was 67 years old. The family came from California to Montana about twenty-five years ago and located in Butte; later they removed to Comet in this county where Mr. Filcher was engaged in prospecting and mining and he did much in developing that locality, being interested in the High Ore and other claims; a few years ago the family removed to Boulder which has since been their home. Deceased leaves a widow and four children, Ralph Filcher of Jefferson Island, Mrs. Chas. Zang of Lewistown, Mont., Joseph and Maude Filcher of Boulder. The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon and were conducted under the ritual of the Masonic fraternity of which Mr. Filcher was a member, and besides the lodge membership there was a large attendance of sorrowing friends.

I believe the John T. Filcher you are asking about might be my great grandfather, John Taylor Filcher. My grandfather was his son Ralph, who died in Butte in 1937. My father was Ralph's son Joseph Benjamin who died in Stevensville in 1971.

Has anyone found the parents of Georgia, who was the wife of
Joseph B? Understand she "was taken in by the Taylor family" when young. In 1930 Stevensville, Georgia and husband Joseph B Filcher are enumerated next a Taylor family.

Did Joseph B Filcher marry Georgia? Her mother died when she was about 4yrs old? Taken in by the Taylor family, as she is on the 1910 C of Montana with Henry H Taylor, but transcribed as Francis. Terrible handwriting on the 1910C of Montana. Thanks B

Have since verified from a desc of John Filcher that Georgia Hebert was the wife of Joseph Benjamin "Ben" Filcher. Both are buried in Ravalli County under their inititals.

Okay! I have done several of my classmates genealogy, just for my own enjoyment. I began looking into George's, (your cousin?) after our 53rd reunion, set it aside and then researched a little more for our 55th..held in Alberton because Stevensville had nothing to accomodate us.
If we both have Ancestry, then we most likely have done the same research. I did ask George if Hebert was his mother's name, and he said yes it was. I believe the Taylor family that took in Georgia after her mother died is a relative, but have not had the time to delve into that more. You and George have an Ancestor with the middle name Taylor....
Things have piled up on me here and must set aside the hunt for a bit again...happy hunting!
