Greetings:

I'm looking for information on Charles O'Kelly, who married Mary (Polly) Crowder. I descend from daughter Nancy Crowder O'Kelly, who wed William Pittard. Their daughter - Mary Ann Pittard - married Willam Harrison Smith. I would greatly appreciate any info tying this individuals togeter, such as wills, deeds, etc.

Also seeking family photos and the locations of any family cemeteries.

Thanks,

Robert

Robert, I too descend from Charles & Mary O'Kelley thru Polly Crowder O'Kelley who married Joel Whitehead.
Charles O'Kelly came from Mecklenburg County, VA to Oglethorpe Co. GA. He was in the American Revolution war having served in the 8th VA Regiment. In 1782, he owned land in Lower District of Mecklenburg County, VA. where he lived for 20 years. In 1805, he sold his plantation to Nathaniel Moss and joined his brother Francis in Oglethorpe County. There he bought land on Cloud's Creek where he lived until his death five years later. He refused to own slaves and was one of the immediate followers of John Wesley before there was any Methodist Church instituted and he shared Wesley's views on the subject of slavery since he thought it was wrong.
I have a lot of info on this family including some church records. You can email me at jemgold@cabletvonline.net.
