Levia Blackwell Ezell death record

I recently sent a request for a death record for my gr-grandmother Levia Corine Blackwell Ezell to the Mississippi state department of health. The response I recieved was that they could not find a death record for her. She died on the 19th of march 1924 and was buried in oak Bowery cemetery. Can anyone tell me if there is a cemetery board or a sextant for Oak Bowery so that I can try to find a burial record?

I checked the list I have of the burials in Oak Bowery aka New Bethany Cemetery and did not find any Ezell burial listed.
The cemetery is located at Ellisville, Section 36, Township 8, Range 13West. It appears to be a small cemetery and may not have a sexton now. You may want to check the local newspapers for a mention of Mrs.Ezell's death. Unfortunately death records were not created for many of our ancestors in spite of the law requiring such records.
I suggest that you contact the librarian in Jones County and see if the library has additional sources for your research.

Thank you for checking on the cemetery. Levia Died on March 19, 1924 after giving birth to Thomas Claud and is buried between her husband James A Ezell and her son Grover Ezell in Oak Bowery/New Bethany cemetery, or should I say they were buried around her. Her untimely death left a hole in the family.

I just joined the Jones county genealogical and historical society so I'll contact them to see if I can get some guidance on where to look for records of that time.

Thanks again for your help.

Good luck on your search and I hope that the genealogical society is doing some work in rounding up records from the early churches and which have records sitting in their files awaiting a fire or tornado.
Mt Vernon Methodist Church has old records but no one has done
anything to copy them before they are destroyed. Also many of the graves attached to the church are not marked due to the poverty of families and folks moving away and neglecting to mark graves of their departed family members.
Again, happy hunting.
