I am looking for information on Whitfield Harral that was born in Madison, Morgan Co., GA. in 1818. It is believed his father was also named Whitfield. Any information concerning this family will be very helpful.

According to the 1820 census as the head-of-household Whitfield Harrol resided in Franklin county Tennessee with three family members.

Eighteen-thirty and 1840 census records didn't reveal that Whitfield participated in said census.

The 1850 census shows Whitfield Harral born in Georgia in 1818 residing in Desoto county Mississippi, with wife Louisa, children, Theophilus Whitfield III, Jarred and other relatives.

After 1850 Whitfield Sr. and Jr. were not found in census records. Desoto Mississippi records indicate that Jobe Harral was born in Tennessee and is an apparent relative. It appears that this family in later years relocated to Houston, Texas. See George and Eula Harral in the 1930 census who have a son named Whitfield. Note George's place of birth.

Let me know if this info was helpful.

Your information helps me a lot. Thank you. I think the family moved from GA to TN to AL to AR to MS and then to TX. Job Harral is Whitfield's brother, I am not sure about George Harral. George Harral may be a cousin or nephew. In my post I failed to say that Whitfield's parents were Whitfield Harral and Judith Bird/Byrd. Judith's father was Job Bird. Do you know any connection of these three people to Morgan? It looks like I have a lot of research to do this summer. Again thank you, I did not know about the 1820 census.

No, it doesn't appear that either of them were residents of Morgan county long enough to be documented in census records. During what I call genealogical expiditions to Morgan county I researched old tax records held at the Morgan County Archives and Uncle Remus Library. These records allowed me to realive the approximate year of death of an ancestor. You can use these records to determine the year they arrived in and left Morgan county.

P.S. I found Job Bird living in Maryland in 1800.
