Would like to locate a picture of the 1940 graduating class of St. Therese. Winifred Mae McNamara graduate on June 16, 1940. Sr. Mary Anastasia was principal of this school and a Sister of St. Joseph. I assume that this school no longer exists?

Dear Winnie: My name is Peggy Murphy Widder, and I am a graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Cleveland, Ohio, which is an all-girls high school run by the Sisters of St. Joseph. There was a St. Therese (or St. Theresa) Academy run by the Sisters of St. Joseph. But I believe it was in Cleveland itself, rather than in the CVleveland suburb of Lakewood. Although the school closed years ago, I do have some good news for you! Their alumni association joined up with the alumni association from my school, St. Joseph Academy. So now you can contact the St. Joe's Alumni Association for info on girls who went to St. Theresa. They are located at St. Joseph Academy, 3430 Rocky River Drive, Cleveland, Ohio, 44111. Good luck!

My mother was a 1933 graduate of St. Therese Academy which was located in Lakewood, Ohio on Detroit Avenue. The Academy closed its doors in the 1940s but St. Joseph Academy Alumni Office in Cleveland on Rocky River Drive might have the information you seek. I was able to write to them and get a record of my mother's grade file when doing family research. Their contact information is on their website.
