I am trying to locate some letters dating from the early to mid 1800's between the Eikenberry and Miller families of Virginia and Ohio respectively. They are now in the possesion of someone in the Harshbarger family of Virginia. This because the recipient(s) were the Ikenberry family who intermarried with the Harshbarger family down in the Rockingham, Botetourt and Franklin county, Virginia area.
It is related to me by a fellow Brethren researcher in Indiana that in the 1970's or 1980's he was talking to a Mr. Albert Harshbarger of North Manchester that the family back in Virginia had possession of a whole trunk full of letters with some of them being as early as 1804 between Virginia and Ohio.
Being a Brethren historian I am hoping to locate these letters as they have a wealth of information on the forming of the German Baptist congregations of Ohio as they were being formed.

No I am not directly related to either the Eikenberry or Miller families.

I am one of several Brethren historians whom are active in tracking down lost members of the Brethren community in the Miami Valley of Ohio. This also extends backwards to those areas, in this case Franklin county, Virginia, of especially the Miller family.

Elder Jacob Miller was very important to the early church in the Miami Valley and a man of great interest to me as a Brethren historian.

It would be nice to include anything you may have, espcially high-quality scans, of the material you mentioned. We are actively looking for photographs and new information as a book on the church in that region is in the works.

I have several things that involve the Oakland Brethern Church. My husbands grandmother belonged to that church as did her family.
Have you seen the 100th Anniversary Year booklet? I have one of the original large photos that is on page 6 of the home Builders Class of 1918. On page 7 in the other buildings section, they talk about a meeting house at Beamsville. I have a hymnal that is stamped on the inside, "Oakland Church, Beamsville, Ohio".
I have several of the Messengers that was sent to Moses Miller in the late 1800's. There are a few other things.

I have a photo of the original Oakland meeting house.
