Checking to see if anyone would be willing to make a cemetery site visit in Spartansburg since it is a bit of trip for me from Colorado. I am trying to find the grave of a relative, Sherman Tuttle Cook, buried in Section B, Lot 270 of Rose Hill cemetery in Spartansburg, PA. He was a Civil War veteran of Company F 2nd. He died sometime after 1880 but before 1900. Thanks so much in advance for your help!

You've been waiting awhile, could have walked here from Colorado. But I will get over there as soon as we have less mud. Do you want pics?

Great to hear from you! I would love some photos. While you are there, could you look near Sherman Cook's grave to see if his wife Cornelia Emeline Jaqua Cook is buried somewhere close by? She reportedly died in a train accident in Crawford County in October 1856 but I have not been able to locate her grave location.

Thanks again for your kind offer of help.

John

Will do. Hopefully this weekend. You might want to send me an email address to send pictures to. Rose Hill is right down the road from us. A train accident in 1856? Don't know if I can find anything out about that or not...

Bob, could I also ask a favor? I've been trying to get definitive information on my gr-gr-gr-grandmother's grave - she's also supposed to be buried in Rose Hill Cemetery. Her name was Esther (Bixby) Sadler and she died 6 June 1852. Supposedly, her husband Almerin is also buried there, though I doubt that as I know he remarried and moved to Iowa. Is there any way you could look for her grave for me? Thank you SO MUCH!! I can't find her listed in Find-A-Grave, but there is a lot of info in Ancestry family trees that says she's buried there...

Debbie

Hi Deb, will certainly look around the cemetery when time permits. Will also look in the cemetery index at Crawford Co. Historical Society next time I visit.

Thank you! I've heard it's on pg 45 of the Index - I'd need a scan of both that page and the title page. :)

Haven't had time to get out yet, but there is something on the "You might be from Corry if....." facebook page you might be interested in. A fancy glass belonging to a Bertha Bixby of Spartansburg. Send me an email address - bobholby@verizon.net, and I think I can direct you to the post.
