Did any one of the Demaray family fight in this war?
The name might have been spelled Demarest at that time.
David Demarest dob 1681,New York. Any one from his family.

There are around 40 men with surname Demarest listed in the DAR Index serving from New England states--NY & NJ to name a couple. None spelled Demaray

There was a Peter D., Samuel and John Demarest from N. Y.

There were at least David, James, Peter, Samuel and John in various NY militia units, and David, Samuel and Nicholas who seemed to pronounce the name the French way, again in various NY militia rosters. These men did not necessarily have active-duty service, and there's no telling from the rosters what their ancestral histories were.

If you're interested in your own lineage, you'll need to document back to men who were in late teens or older in that period.
