Looking for any info on Charles G. Norris Sr. born in
Ohio in the 1830's. No idea when he died, but certain in the
Santa Rosa, Ca. area . His (we think this was a second wife) second wife was Martha
Ellender Harris,born 3/15/1833 in
Indiana to Samuel
Harris and Pheobe
Fulkerson, died 9/18/1915 in
Rincon valley,
Santa Rosa, Ca. At some point they migrated to the
Santa Rosa, Ca. area. On of his sons was Charles G. Norris Jr, born 4/10/1865 in
Santa Rosa who married May Flower
Wells on 5/30/1888. Charles Jr died in
Santa Rosa on 8/8/1924. May died in
Santa Rosa on 5/8/1899. May was the daughter of
Pleasant Wells and Ann M. Bish ( Daughter of
Abraham Bish and Susan
Shipley)born 8/29/1869. The
Bish family had a vineyard "Vineland", in
Rincon Valley,
Santa Rosa,
Sonoma County, Ca.
Charles Jr and May had a duaghter, Bertha, who married Ann's brother, Lewis
Bish. Screwy I know.
I have information that Charles Sr. had a half brother named
Luke, and that Charles Sr. abandoned his first wife (name unknown, or even if there was a first wife) and she later committed suicide.
The
Norris' came to
America in 1623 on a ship called "Ann". Unfortunately, I have no idea where they came from. they settled in W. Virginia, later moving to
Ohio.
This is all on my maternal grandfather's side. His father was Herbert Guy
Norris, son of Charles Jr. and May. Herbert guy married
Estelle "Stella"
Crumrine. A side note, Stella's sister met and married
Pleasant Wells brother,
Clarkston.
Herbert and Stella are the parents of my grandfather, Herbert Donald
Norris, who married Eva Madeline
Bayless, and are the parents of 10, my mother is the oldest. they settled in Seattle, Wa. My mom attended Holy Names Academy. In fact, they lived right accross the street. My Mom and Dad moved to
Santa Barbara, Ca. and my grandparents and uncles and aunts with them in tow, followed within a year or two.
sorry for the long story, but I have spent years trying to find info on Charles Sr. and those before him. I was given some paperwork that belonged to my grandfather's cousin. Not all was complete and some info makes no sense. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
