Hi

Looking for additional information about George and Emma Friend

Both of Emma's parents were brn in England.
George's father was brn in Germany, his mother in Pennsylvania.

They lived in Philadelphia in both 1880 and 1900 census.

Their son William Kendal Friend married Elizabeth Walsh and lived in Germantown section of Phila.

Their son George Clausen Friend married married Emily Horn and lived in Swarthmore. They had a son Paul E Friend.

Does any of this sound familiar.

Thanks

Thank you for your quick reply.
I am trying to learn more about Emma Parker Friend. I have been able to research her family forward to 1900s. However, I am unable to research back to determine her parents and what their county of origen is.
I know her son, William is buried in West Laurel Hill. Do not know where she and her parents are buried.
Emma Parker Friend is the sister of my great grandfather.
So learning about her, will help me learn about him.

thank you

Joan

Hi Joan
George W and Emma Friend are living in Ridley Township, Delaware County in the 1930 census age 79 and 77. They owned the house, so at there death, there must be records, perhaps a will or intestate which I can check for you here in Delaware County. I will also check the obituary for additional information. I will get back to you sometime this week. Also, you can send for a copy of her death certificate which will give you cemetery and names of her parents!

Hi Joan
Your James Duncan Parker's father was Henry Parker who died Nov 13, 1891 living at 807 S. 2ond St, Phila. His was buried at Mt Moriah Cemetery. Emma Parker Friend left a will which I ordered and will look at in the next couple days. I have some additional information to give you but will wait until I see the will!

Hello Joan
George W Friend died Jan 17, 1932 and Emma Parker Friend died Jan 4, 1938. They are buried at Arlington Cemetery in Drexel Hill, Pa. In addition to the children you knew about, they had another son Henry Parker Friend born Nov 8, 1881 who married a Estelle and they had children. Look at the census for Norristown, Montgomery County, Pa. Henry Parker Friend was still living in the 1940s. Best wishes on your research.

Dear Don

Thank you for your information. I had been out of town for a few days.

When I started researching James Duncan, I knew he had a sister, Emma who married ____ Friend and lived in Swarthmore. This info was from 90 yo cousin. I tried looking for Emma since I had located several possible James Parkers in the 1880 census.

What you have provided is helpful. Now I need to do more research to locate Henry's parents.

Thank you again.

Joan
