Does anyone know what became of John and Eliza McCarthy of Amherst after the 1910 census? Their son Eugene and his family were still there in 1930 and was their daughter Nellie and her husband Richard Knightly.

I am researching the family of Eliza Welch and wonder if perhaps she died in Amherst between 1910 and 1920 and if so where would a Catholic from Amherst have been buried at that time.

Also looking for a death record for Eliza's father Michael Welch who was last found for certain in 1880 census in West Brookfield. There was a Michael Welch enumerated in the 1910 census in Amherst neighboring the McCarthy household. The entry for this Michael Welch gave his age as 72 which would have been at least 10 yrs. too young. It also said he was an alien and I have Naturalization records for the Michael Welch I am searching for. Still I wonder ...

Does anyone have knowledge of the McCarthy or Knightly family from Amherst?

I do have access to Ancestry and NEHGS.

NEHGS index books show Elizabeth Welch McCarthy died in Amherst in 1926 (vol. 2; page 188) so you might write the town clerk.
