His parents were Henry Sherman Shipley and Rebecca Griffith. Grandparents were Amon Shipley and Suzanne Grim. Great-grandparents were Daniel Shipley and Eleanor Burnworth; Peter Grim and his wife, Martha. I am descended from both Grims and Shipleys.

Incidentally, I show him as James Sheridan Shipley.

Yes I am related, Grace Ida Shipley Moffitt and George Albert Morritt were my grandparents and James Sheridan Shipley and Rebecca Ann Burwell great-grandparents. I was told back when I was a child that my Shipley relatives came to Sullivan Co. MO in a covered wagon and settled in the home place where James Sheridan Shipley lived near Reger, MO. I have found a page from an old letter with the name Henry Shipley and Rebecca Hudnall Shipley purchased land in 1856 in Sullivan Co. MO. I thought Henry Shipley might have built the house where he raised his family. I have just started researching my Shipley descendants.
Would anyone know if Rebecca Hudnall Shipley is the same person as Rebecca Griffith wife of Henry Sherman Shipley? Thanking you for your help and information I always do appreciate it.

Henry's wife, Rebecca, was born 1835/36 in Indiana; her parents were born in Maryland - I don't know if this will help you any in determining her parentage. (There is about a ten year age difference between Henry and Rebecca - my files indicate he may have been married previously, perhaps in Indiana.)

I am interested in your posts on James Sherman Shipley s/o Amon Shipley and Suzanne Grim. Amon Shipley is a brother to Thomas Shipley who settled in Missouri and is my husband's 2nd Great Grandfather. My husband's line goes through Margaret Elizabeth Shipley (married Robert Donoho) She is the daughter of Thomas Shipley & Eliza Ball (Douglass?) He is the son of Daniel Shipley and Eleanor Burnworth. Thomas and Eliza were both buried in the Lindley, Grundy, Missouri cemetery. Their daughter Margaret Elizabeth Shipley married Robert Donoho and their daughter Rebecca Donoho married a Spencer Morgan Hudnall. The Grims keep coming up in my research and are part of this family history. I am curious about the Grim family and what information you have on them.

Regarding your post on Mary Donoho --

I am also a direct descendant of Thomas Shipley (2nd Great-Gfather), brother of Amon Shipley, both sons of Daniel and Cornelia Eleanor Burnworth. You mentioned a daughter of Margaret Elizabeth Shipley and Robert Donoho, Rebecca Donoho. I DO NOT HAVE HER AMONG THEIR CHILDREN in my database. My records show they had 11 children as follows: James Sands (1847); Sara Jane (1849); William Columbus (1851); Mary Ann (1854); Martha E (1856); Thomas Alexander (1858); Andrew J (1860), Isaac R ((1860); George Milford (1865); Barzillai F (1867); and Ida May (1869).
Perhaps my data is incomplete or I have mis-read your post.
Please let me know how I can rectify this discrepancy.

BTW - I show a possible 10 child of Thomas and Elizabeth Ball Douglass Shipley born 14 Set 1849. Sue Perna shows a child Joseph B, and Larry Vest shows a child Josiah B.

Joseph P (8 yrs) clearly shows on the 1850 census and Josiah B (17 yrs) on the 1860 census. There is an UNKNOWN SHIPLEY buried in the Lindley Cemetery, Sullivan County, Mo, son of Thomas and Elizabeth Bell (Douglass) Shipley. Neither name appears on the 1870 census.

There is a Joseph P Shipley (1843-1850) buried in the Lindley Cemetery AND the Infant Shipley (unk -1850). So, who died in 1850, Joseph P or B or Josiah B and who was still living at the time of the 1860 census? CONFUSED...SO AM I.
