I have both volumes of the History of Jerauld County South Dakota.
Volume one: From earliest settlement (1876) to January 1st, 1909 by N.J. Dunham
Volume two: Jan. 1st 1909 to December 31st, 1961, 52 years of progress by Fred N. Dunham

I also have the Making of a Community - A history of Jerauld County to 1980 by the Dunham Historical Society in Wessington Springs, SD. This book has many "family histories" written by family members

I would be glad to do look-ups based on the indexes in all three books. Cheryl

I only found two references to Dawson in the books I have. Both were in the Jerauld County up to 1963. There was a Donald Dawson listed as a coach at Alpena in 1942 and his salary was $1250. The other reference was to a L. Dawson who was recognized at a 1922 May 30th Memorial Service for being 1 of 2 Civil War Veterans still living in Wessington Springs. Cheryl Schwartz

Cheryl, I am looking for information regarding John Steichen (son of Nicholas and Magdalena Steichen b. 1852 in Syren, Luxembourg) and Joseph Steichen (born 1855 In Luxembourg). Joseph Steichen supposedly homesteaded in Jerauld County. He is my great-grandfather. I am not sure if these brothers came together or what. Any information would be helpful. Is John Peter Steichen mentioned in your books? The first two would likely be in Vol. 1 while JP would be in Vol. 2.
