I would appreciate hearing from anyone connected to these surnames. Most of these families lived in the Stalwart and Pickford communities in Chippewa/Mackinaw Counties. The family tree is extensive, but I am particularly interested in anecdotal information and any photos you might be willing to share. Would love to have the opportunity to compare notes. I have already have the historical accounts written and published by the historical societies for Pickford and Stalwart. Anything further would be wonderful.

Hi,

I am trying to find the death info on Louis and Susan Ann Hall. They moved to Pickford about 1897 from Fournier, Ontario and were there in 1920. Their son Raymond Joseph, my grandfather, is buried in the Donaldson Catholic Cemetary and my uncle tells me that he was buried next to his parents. The transcription of the cemetary, which I just located, shows the brother of Louis (J Abel + Margaret Hamilton) and his family but nothing on Louis or Susan Ann. Would you have the address and /or phone to the church? I would love to share information on the Halls as I will be there in about 2 months and would love to meet other family members. My parents divorced when I was 3 and I never got the chance to know this side of the family. Thanks for any help you can provide. Danny

Kathy,
'Reed' is my husband's name and his family originated in New York and New Jersey with no ties to Michigan. I'm sorry we didn't connect.

Have you tried searching census records for Michigan for your Reed? I am doing research on my Michigan family (names as posted), but will keep your Reed in mind as I do my work and will keep your email handy should I run across anything for you.

Happy hunting - it's quite a game!
Jan

Danny,

I just ran across your email - which I can't remember ever seeing before - and see that it was over a year ago that you sent it! I'm terribly sorry not to have connected with you before now. Did you make your trip to the area and make any headway in your research?

My Hall connections descend from William Hall (b. England 1770, d. Pointe Levis, PQ Canada 1854). I don't have a record of a Louis & Susan in my research, however, will keep your email and contact you should I run across anything that might be possible. It really is a small world, Danny, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least that we can find an association here.

Did you get a copy of the Pickford & Stalwart histories that have been published? They can be quite helpful. I'll keep your information and anything else you'd like to send me and as I work will keep you in mind for anything that I might turn up. I would be glad to send you my Hall Family Tree to see if you can make any connection if you think that is something you would want.

I live in the area and have been away from the genealogy work for about a year, but hopefully will be able to get back to it in the months ahead. Please feel free to send me any information on your Hall's and I will do what I can for you, whenever I can. You can contact me directly at my email: reed@30below.com.

All the best - Jan

I have never heard of any Halls in Pickford myself. Hills-yes. I am of the Lordsons and Hills of Pickford. Donaldson also has a Protestant Cemetary. You might look there.
