This was a wagon train headed up by Samuel Turner Harrison. There were reportedly 25 wagons in the train. I am trying to reconstruct the members of this wagon train. So far I have knowledge of 23 individuals on this wagon train so far (8 adults and 15 children). I have teh Harrison, Richardson, and Watters families. If anyone is aware of any other families that might have been on this wagon train, i would greatly appreciate the information.

"First man never has a chance", in a story, especially when you're talking to a Texan. In a book, "Astride the Old San Antonio Road", a Judge A.S. Broaddus, led some 200 people in the 1850's, from VA to TX in a wagon train some 2 MILES long! The story states it took them some 6 months to make the trip. Since the names, Anthony, Broaddus, Hill, Green, were in Caldwell, (East Texas) in the 1860's, I'm hoping they were all connected to that wagon train. It might have encouraged your group to make the trip at a later date. Do you connect to any of the names mentioned above?

No connection to any of those surnames. Fascinating story, however.

William Richards and his family came from Virginia to Milam County in the 1850's. Were there any Richards on the wagon train from Virginia?

Carolyn, I don't have the list of people on the train. If you have a chance to see a copy of the book, "Astride the old San Antonio Road", it mentions quite a few people, presumably that came (over 200 people) with Judge A.S. Broaddus from VA to Caldwell, TX in the 1850's. There are copies in the library in Caldwell, Ft. Worth, Dallas and several other libraries in the area. The last I heard, the Caldwell still had a limited number of copies of the book for sale.
