My name is Gregory Steven Webdale. parents: Erward James Merritt Webdale & Ingrid (Inger) Thomsen. (Mom's family originated from Stavanger Norway) Grandparents: Albert Webdale, Toronto Ontario. Great Granparent: Edward Webdale, apparently of England.

Webdale is not a common name. There has to be some connection between the other Webdale's that I am aware of in England, San Francisco, Buffalo NY and elsewhere, and I. I was born in 1954 in Selkirk Manitoba and presently reside in Surrey British Columbia, and am just starting a geneaological search. Does anyone elso out there have an ancestor by the name of Edward Webdale?

Wow! That's a lot of Webdale's.
This is a list of the descendants of J.O. Webdale. I do not recognize anything recent, however I will save this info in my database in the event that I can establish any connections. My side of the Webdale family came to Canada and settled in the Ottawa Ontario area. (There is a valley there that starts with an S., as I recall from decades old conversations, where the last generation of my family came from) however the name obviously has origins in England, and a commonality must exist that connects all Webdale's.
My Dad was an RCMP officer. He had two sisters. No brothers. He married a second generation Canadian of Norwegian descent, named Ingrid Thomsen.
Grandpa Webdale was originally a blacksmith, however eventually came to work at AVRO Aerospace, and apparently worked on the left side of the cockpit of Canada's famed but ill-fated fighter plane of the late fifties, the CF 105 Avro Arrow.
Great Grandpa Edward was apparently a blacksmith. I know nothing about him.
I have no kids - however it is good to know that the name does not die with me, as Dad said it would.
