I'm a member of the Catalina Island School Alumni Association. Chris and I were in the graduating class of 1975. Christopher Edward Laube was last known to reside in the state of New York; spouse's name Ethel(?). Chris is an old friend and I've been trying to find him for 6 years; any help would be greatly appreciated...

My mother's maiden name was Laubi. Some of her father's clan changed the spelling to Laube. Where are you from? Contact me, if you will, at tsylvia@capecod.net.

Gr.grandfather August Laube, b. 1846, and Ottellia
Wohlfahrt,b 1858; both in Germany, landed in
NYC in 1881. Party included Johann Laube,August's
father,b.ca.1821, Edward Wohlfahrt,b.ca.1854 and baby
Salma. They traveled to Detroit, then Otsego
County, MI. Edward W. remained in Detroit.

Where is Pozen? I have a feeling that my Laube's
lived in the vincinity of the Port of Danzig.
(today's Gdansk, Poland).

Hi,
I immigrated to Canada from Poland in 1981.
Pozen (Poznan) is quite large city in western Poland (approx 300 miles south-west from Gdansk), it's present population might be 800000.
This is area where very large German, farming community was established in the second half of 19 century. My ancestors leaved in the same area.
At the present I have prety bussy life.
I am planning to start building my family tree on my retirement (I am 49 now).
In Edmonton, Alberta where I leave, is large polish-german comunity from the same area.
Some people I know use Mormon's records to search for family members.
cheers
Tom

Hi Tom,

My great grandfather, August Laube, arrived in Port of NY in 1881.
His party consisted of his father Johan, wife, Ottlea (Wohlfahurt)
Laube, dau. Salma and Ottlea's brother Eduard.

Salma once put on form that she was born in Danzig (todays Gdansk, Poland).

August bought a farm in a township that had many Polish immigrants.
My grandmother, Haiter/Hedvig said until she went to school, she
spoke German and Polish. The family spoke german.

I have been told by my family that we (Laube's) came over from Dresden, Germany (near poland) and went to Michigan around the 1880's-1890's....I cannot go back any farther than my great great grandfather Augustus...he had a couple son's that we know of...Arthur and Conrad. Conrad is my great grandfather. Maybe I can be of any assistance.
