Will I. Morrison married Mary K. VanHorn in Grand Co in 1899. They moved back to Mesa Co CO for a time because their only child was born there. They were divorced by 1905. Then, Mary K. married again to William I Cooley in Moab, and remained there. Laura Lillian Morrison, her dau, married Theodore Leonard Byer 1918 in Moab.

Mary and Wm Cooley then had a son named James Edward Cooley. I am looking for connections to these two families. Most importantly, the Morrison line. Can anyone shed some light on this information? Thanks!

Hi,

My grandfather's name is James Edward Cooley. His fathers name was William Cooley, and he grew up in Pelzer SC. My grandfather does not know much about his family because his parents sent him to live with his grandmother at age 3. I was wondering if there is any connection.

James E. Cooley (b. 1907 CO)

request RE. James Ed Cooley. The person you refer to as James Ed Cooley was born in Grand Jct Colo. in 1907 to William Issac Cooley and Mary Morrison Vanhorne. They owned a large ranch in Castle Valley Utah. James was raised there. by his parents. he attended Utah State U. ----Graduated from Grand county High school so I do not think there is much possibility he is the person you seek.. as I am certain he was not sent to be raised by his grandparents. also his father William Issac Cooley left his home in missouri at about the age 15 and worked as drover on cattle drives from Texas to Wyoming until he joined a company of Gold miners to explore Colorado and Utah mines he homesteaded 640 acres in Castle valley utah. and became involved in the local politics of Grand county
