I am looking to find out who John Leachs parents are From what i have his dads name was Hugh Leach Born about 1740 in Randolph North Carolina and had three children John, Nacy and one other but i do not know any other information that that. Any Help will be great. Thanks Stuck in a hole Rob Barker

Re: Information on John Leach
I can't help you on John's parents, but could his son Hugh be the one born about 1794, married Mary Elizabeth COLLETT?
Hopewell cemetery is near Trinity NC, which would be consistent with this family. I'm not sure what "Spring Field" refers to in your message, however. Could this be Springfield Friends Meeting in Guilford County? It's not far from the Randolph Co. line, and some of my family who also lived near Trinity were members of this meeting.

Is your Leach family related to James Angus Leach, born abt 1830, who married Deborah Simmons? They lived in Montgomery Co., but their son James Ellis Leach (Jul 1860) married Loretta Johnson and lived in Randolph Co. Their daughter Ada married my cousin Elmer Hayes.

I only have two James Leach in my tree, The first one is James Leach Born February 05 1798 in Trinity Town, Randolph, North Carolina Died July 07, 1881In Randolph, North Carolina. I have no middle name for him. He Married Margaret Mendenhall Born October 05, 1800 in Guiford, North Carolina, They had 11 children, Irene, Charity, Mary, Martin, Elizabeth, Rachel, Zilphia, James and Roxannia. James is the the 10th child and all i have on him is his name James Addison Leach Born September 12, 1839 no more than that. I hope this may help and seems that we may connect some how but just have to find some information that may connect us. See what you come up with and let me know. Thank Rob Barker

Re: Information on John Leach
Well, I have found 3 ladies named Deborah Leach in Montgomery Co NC, but only one is the wife of James A Leach. My error; I am not sure that this James A Leach's middle name was Angus. And, since he died before 1870, I don't have a birthdate for him as I CAN NOT find him in 1860. James A Leach's wife Deborah, born May 1832, had three children: John D, James Ellis, and Martha Lisha. In 1870, she is on the census in Montgomery Co NC as "Deby Lench". Do you think it is possible that her husband James A is your James Addison Leach, even though he would be 7 years younger than Deborah?? They were married in 1857.

Re: Information on John Leach
Mary Elizabeth Collett was the wife of Hugh Leach b. 1794, not John. I feel sure that's what you meant to write. Pernetia or Pernecia Lula Leach was born 20 Feb 1820 as you say, and married Grier Gray 11 Feb 1840, Randolph Co. NC. He was the son of John Gray and Charity Swaim. Pernecia / Pernetia died 7 Feb 1905 and is buried at Ebenezer Methodist church in Randolph County. I'm researching the Gray family: http://www.duke.edu/web/chlamy/gray.html
